I've been blonde (from naturally light brown) for, mmmmmmmm, I guess eight years now (if anybody has "heard" me saying six, I wasn't lying, I just realized it's been longer!) and I LOVE it. I'll never go back. I don't think it's hard to maintain at all. I do have it done at a salon. I also have a very heavy highlight rather than all-over color. All one color is harder to maintain, in my opinion, because you HAVE to get it retouched at the very first sight of roots or it's tacky. With a heavy highlight you can get away with a little root action and it's ok. So that's why I do what I do.

Nursie,
I don't have a problem doing my own hair I used to color it all the time also my Mom used to be a stylist so it's not a problem to have her help me.
Thanks so much for the advice I will let you know what I do.....if I keep the Blond or go back to dark.
well i do my hair myself....now if you are used to going to the salon, i'd really recommend going back there, its easy to screw up when you are new to coloring!
blonde hair hard to keep up? yes, its more work to touch up roots because they appear so quickly....last year i finally got tired of keeping up my platinum hair and i took a gradual approach to getting back to my natural color by using the Loreal color gems as lowlights (i applied it with a small brush on select strands and wrapped the strands in foil like my fave short-term-stylist-that-moved-far-away used to do :( )
i'd recommend if you are teetering between staying blonde and going dark to try the lowlights first...and again, if you havent done much coloring to your own hair you'd be best to step into the salon

Thank You very much.....I wasn't sure if I should go back again to the salon or try to correct it myself...I think the gal that colored my hair is not very experienced with hair color she had to ask other stylist for help. Is it really hard to keep blond hair up? I have been thinking about going dark again even though I do like the lighter hair and I have only had it for 3 days now.....I just don't like the yellow tone and I can already see my roots!!!
i've been where you are, yellow blonde hair that i wanted to be darker...i used L'oreal color gems demipermanent from sally beauty supply, i used 'medium golden blonde' with a gold protein filler with it...the result was a nice natural warmer toned darker blonde...with the color gems i do buy one a shade lighter than i think i want because the end result always looks darker once its on my hair.....if you choose to try this definately do a strand test because you can never be sure if you'll like the results

HI Everyone,
I am new to this web site, which I think is AWESOME!!
Anyway, I had dark brown hair now I have a yellowish blond color but what I really want is a dirty blond color like the gal from the show WORKOUT. Does anyone have any advice for me? I feel like I am wearing a wig, it just doesn't look right....I like the lighter hair but not the yellowish color it is...I just wanted to try going blond was tired of my natural dark hair color.
