I have found with fusion that upkeep is essential. By upkeep I mean: Correct washing for your hair type, keeping conditioner OFF of the bonds, being careful not to tangle bond area when washing. Careful brushing when wet with a loop brush to keep from snagging and snapping your hair. Seperating of ALL bonds to minimize matting. Blow drying is a must for me too. I also have to make sure I'm brushing my bond area a few times a day to prevent matting together of the bonds.
For me, fusion just isn't a great method. I can get away with a few rows for volume, but cannot do an entire install. Altho, maybe if I got them done professionally I would have less trouble, but I don't that much extra $$$ hanging around. I like my tapes alot better!

I agree with metalgirl, the GL has a stronger bond than most fusion
pre-tipped hair. A lot of fusion methods shed or slip out so you
constantly replacing the bonds. GL doesn't do that nearly as much but
it's so $$$$
I've been really enjoying the sew in method. It took me a year to get
the courage to try it and I love it. If you find the right person it's
a great method. I only have one track with a double weft.
Since I don't offer fusion, I'm not sure what maintenence is involved. Probably replacing some bonds, since with many brands of fusion, the bond slips or breaks down.
Also, the stylist would probably check for matting at the root.
There is no difference between Great Lengths and fusion. Fusion is a generic term, while Great Lengths is a specific brand. Every company has different types of fusion glue, some better than others. As far as fusion glues go, GL is known to have durable, long lasting glue and good hair.
