QuoteReplyTopic: Took My Extensions Out... Posted: April 05 2007 at 10:48am
So I took out my extensions tonight....gosh what a royal pain in the ass and the head! So i did the acetone thing...I wonder if you guys had as many issues as I did! 1. So I sat down on my floor seperated the bottom/1st layer of wefts and put my rubber gloves on. (I am extremely anal about my nails and did not want to go to the salon to get my nails re-manicured) I poured the acetone in a squirt bottle and went to work. 2. There I was squirting away at my bonds thinking they were going to start sliding out...well they didnt...they definitley needed to soak for a good 2 minutes... 3. Since they were slipping earlier last week, I reinforced them with LG...well that LG was nowhere near wanting to come out...and in fact there are still a few parts of those big boogers stuck in my hair! ARGHH! So after soaking the bonds...I accidentally got it in my eye...oh did i mention that my rubber gloves starting sticking to one another as well as me!? Well there I am...trying to tug the gloves off of my hands, that are also stuck to my pants...and blinded on one eye...finally i ran to the bathroom washed out my eye...and got back to work... 4. 1 hour later they were out...FINALLY...well I went into the shower and started shampooing...it felt so good to scratch my head...although i felt a ton of those boogers in my hair...anyhow i put conditioner in my hair got out of the shower and went to do laundry...so then i went back into the shower and washed out the conditioner...still felt the boogers...put more conditioner in...washed out...i started seeing so much hair coming out...it was scary! all this hair was on my hands...i put it up on my shower wall (so that when it fell it wouldnt clog my drain) although i cant say that it feels like i have so much less hair than i had before i started the extensions...
Anyhow....sorry for the absurdly long post...i just figured you guys would enjoy the story...
Now heres a question....i still have some of those obnoxious LG boogers in my hair...is that ok? some of them are in bigger chunks...

If I use Acetone I put it on cotton balls and soak a small area at a time to loosen it....but like you I hate the sticking to everything and ruining my nails....so the last 2 take downs I have used C22 and sprayed it really good...top and underneath and left it on for a while.....then get in the shower and put lots of heavy conditioner on them and rub that in good.....after it sits in my hair a while I can run my fingers over the protac and pull them out in one piece with the protac still attached. ...AND if you work on pulling the protac off right then or keep the tracks on the shower floor to keep them wet, well they usually come off in one piece.
I then use a small tease rat tail comb and get all those boogers out.....and a hard bristle brush.....which feels really good after 4 or 5 weeks of not being able to scratch your head.
Thanks,
JeepGirl
Current install-Bohyme Bodywave #30 and #14 in the straight hair/ they didn't have the #14 in bodywave, so I mixed them...works great!

Sew-ins GIRL!! Try it at least once. I;m on five weeks with this one
track. I don't like the adhesives for the reasons you posted!! I hate
those boogers and I don't like putting acetone on my head! Acetone will
dry your hair out and I'm just not comfortable with the thought of
soaking my hair and scalp in acetone or goo gone for that matter, call
me crazy
It seems like you wear the extensions for the volume? I only have one
track, double wefted and I use the Russian hair so it's got a lot of
volume and I get great length too. With the bohyme hair you've got to
use a lot more hair.

no, not ok! get a really emollient conditioner (any one labeled 'deep conditioner' and smear it over the chunks and let it sit....watch a sitcom or reorganize your pots and pans, something for 30 minutes, comb through and the chunks should slide out...if not spray some of your remover and let that sit for a few minutes more

Nursie is right. Let the conditioner sit there and if you can, put a
plastic shower cap on and wrap a bandana on top of that ( to lessen the
dork look)

i agree with u taking out hair extensions is not fun. i took mine out 2 weeks ago and the best part was being able to run my fingers through it in the shower and that feel all that glue, my hair just feels so much more clean and fresh without them! and i love when my bf runs his hands through my hair and doesnt complain about the glue .
it took me about 3 washes to get all that glue out and i used a deep conditioner that i left on for about 5 to 10 min.
r u planning on going back to hair extensions ever again? i know im never getting hair extensions again!
