Sounds like the hair has been bleached too many times. For future reference, when bleaching your hair, only bleach the roots and not the entire head. Usually, hair can be bleached--virgin hair mind you--about three times. Your hair is breaking because long hair is very heavy. Whether we like to admit it or not, once we bleach, our hair is trashed. Nothing you do--other than growing it out--will ever repair the damage. I wouldn't toss some brown on it just yet, it might turn green if you don't do a proper tint back. Rather, I'd go for a nice medium layered cut and from now on only bleach the roots once, avoid overlapping as much as possible, and honestly if you expect to have hair that is bleached that long, you'll really have to be careful not to bleach it more than once. Anyway, hope this helps, sorry about your hair.

PS the most gentle toner out there is Clairol Born Blonde...

Make sure you get your toner (color) at a beauty supply store so that they can help you determine a color that won't turn your hair a funky color. Next time you want to go blonde, go to a professional! As I said before it is a complicated process and you really have to know what you are doing so you don;t damage your hair more than you have to!!!!!After what I saw happening to my hair yesterday, I would never try that at home. I lifted my hair from a light brown to a light blonde and it does feel healthy (I'm surprised).

well yesterday morning it was down to my bum and now its just above my shoulders.
its like a very light barrbie blonde at the top and then kinda goes light ginger, but im thinking of putting a light brown toner all over and then letting my hair recover untill i can get it to the blonde i want.
it feels wierd not sitting on my hair anymore lol

I know how you feel, I have had some horrible things happen to my hair in the past 2 weeks also! What you have to realize is that it is only hair and it will grow back. Make sure you replace protein and moisture into your hair. As far as lightening goes.....I just had my hair bleached and recolored today and I would not recommend this process to anyone who is not a professional. It was definately an interesting experience and complicated. It can only get better, but I definately would not lighten it anymore and see a color specialist next time you want to go lighter so you don't get anymore damage. Is cutting an option? Good luck!
