I spent forever  curling my new HH yesterday, but it won't hold a curl (should have stuck with thermo), anyway it's Sepia HH and I need advice on getting this to hold a curl. I put hairspray on piece before curling it in a really hot iron. Any advice?

try using a smaller barrel since HH curls loosen. And try clipping your curls until they are completely cool

Ditto what sherrie said, I usually get good results with a smaller barrel iron, and they always seem to loosen a lot for me. I usually use a 1" or 3/4" and that works well.

I find heated rollers much easier and more effectve on HH  if you can afford to - invest in a set.

I bought 2 sets :) The curl just doesn't last, I think I'm gonna invest in some serious mousse, gel, hairspray, glue stuff, I think that may be the only way. :)

i've had some cheaper, stiffer/coaser hair that was pretty hard to curl.....what helped was a heat protectant/styling spray (they have several brands at sally beauty supply...i've used the proclaim and silk elements ones)...spray the hair with that first, smaller barrel iron than what you think you need for sure, let all the curls cool off untouched, then only fingercomb through to break up the stiffness of the curls....i had a batch of indian hair that just would NOT hold curl even with all those d*mn products i have, so i had to give up and just scrunch for a lazy wave
