As for what you were saying about black men deliberately being vindictive towards AA women with weaves or extensions, that just plain sucks and I would agree with you it most likely has to do with their own insecurities and less about what you choose to do with your own hair.

Remember that episode of "Different World" after Whitely and DeWayne were married.. Whitley would wake up HOURS before DeWayne to fix her hair, put on makeup and brush her teeth so that he would wake up every morning and think she was just as beautiful in the morning as she was the night before, and how her breath always smelled so sweet every morning! I tried that right after I got married.. It lasted ONE week!

My farce is strictly for the public If I look remotely sane within the first hour after awakening my family asks me if I'm going somewhere. The dog even sits by the front door thinking that I'm taking her for a ride or something

I went to this salon which was the size of my closet and she started showing me synthetic hair which I stated would not match the texture of my thin caucasian hair, so I left there. I went to another place and are thinking of hair locs..any one try them?
LOL yeah its true, Diva for certain. I think its natural for everyone to want to look their best but doing it for a man is wrong, it has to be done for yourself first and formost. I leanred that lesson over the years.
And MsHoney, men in general are visual creatures and they tend to gravitate towards what they find physically atractive about a woman before even getting to know anything else about her. I guess it isnt really a good or bad thing but just how it is and biology.

She charges $25 per track and said I would need about three tracks. I think she was annoyed or something I don't know. I actually go to an african american woman to color and cut my hair, she said she would do a full head of hair locs for $500 with hair. I actually trust her since she got my hair back to a healthy state after the GL damage I had. But I decided to go to one more consultaion with a hair loc lady who the hair loc site recommended and she does it out of her house. I really want to do alot more research this time.

Sourgirl one other thing I found since I read you are in Jersey. Its called hair blending but I dont know all the details. Im guessing its big $$$ but you can probably go for a consult either in person or on the phone. Here is the site and I think BHM forum talks about it at length.

Yes Anomis I agree and it took me years to figure that out unfortunately. Dont bother to gussy yourself up for a man, do it for yourself. And have you ever noticed on TV very often on sitcoms and such you see these beautiful looking women with butt ugly men?? Whats up with that? Off the top of my head I can think of "King of Queens" but I know there are others.
By the way, Sourgirl speaking of King of Queens, that TV show, the female lead, her name is Leah Remini, she wears Hairlocs but mine never looked as good as hers thats for sure so with her money, she is probably swapping out the hair a lot for fresh and having stylists work on her.

you are so right about braiders Diva- i interviewd a stylist to come and assist in salon, she said she had been braiding since she was a little girl, and just got out of beauty school. Braiding those tiny teeny braids intrigues me to no end, but my hands would never work like that! That reminded me,a few weeks ago i did a consultation on a AA woman. She brought her little girl with her and ended up trying to teach me how to do a corn row, oh gosh was that ever fun. I couldnt do it...
I give all braiders mucho credit. Its amazing how tiny and straight and tight.

I still want to learn how to do lace fronts though. Somewhere i watched a video on u tube, is it really that simple?

Hi Tanglles. BHM has a wig making topic that has pages and pages of instructions. They figured it out and learned how to make their own. You should check it out.
wow they are making their own lace fronts? i would love to learn and also how to put them on. I had a AA woman come in the other day too, her hair on top was way to thin to do extensions on, i did tell her about a lace front, i told her if she let me practice on her i wouldnt charge her to put it on, i did however show her this stuff we carry in salon- its called X Fusion- its keritin fibers of human hair, its like flakes- we call them sprinkles. i filled in the top of her head and she was so jazzed, it covered the whole top.!
Ever heard of it? they are starting to adveritse it in the magazines too. We cant keep it on the shelves.

I wanted to see if the wig challenge---was for laced fronts but it sortaseemed like they were making wigs with closures and such, but I will look again I know MHRW sales a kit.
I would like to have a video, detailed, instructions, I hear it is quite tedious, but I would make my own if I just knew how.
