Ok SO -
2 rows of micros (the ones I'm testing for Sherrie)
 2 rows of my make-shift sew-ins (1 double weft, 1 single weft)
3 rows of single weft LG (cos I got damn tired of sewing stuff in!!)

now the make-shift sew-ins. My original method was going to be the braid-less malaysian string one that we were all so curious about. I still feel confident I could totally do it on someone elses head, but for my own I needed an extra arm or two. I didn't have small enough rubber bands around to do it that way either, so I improvised and used micros! Its fairly comfortable, but if you don't find micros used the normal way confortable, then you won't find this comfortable either. It dosen't lay super flat, but flat enough to not be noticable at all - the double weft sticks out significantly more than the single does. I've had that one in for 2 days now and it still feels firm and secure. The single weft I put in last night feels ncie as well. Oh I also hit the ends of them where the sewing starte with LG, just for some extra secureness of the thread, but its not holding up the weft at all.

I use the microrings for doing sew ins all the time.  That's my preferred method for sew ins, since they don't slip.  I use the protubes, since they crimp flat, and space each one 1/2" apart.  By using close spacing, your not putting undo tension on the hair.

I thread the ring on a section of their hair, and then put my hook in the tube and pull another piece of hair through from the opposite direction.
Basically, you have strands of hair criss crossing in the tube.  Then I pull taut and crimp flat.

To get your doubled wefts to lay flatter, I use my sewing machine to zig zag stitch one weft top below the other one.  That way the weft top to be sewn to the track will never be thicker than the thickness of one single weft top.

I'm planning on getting a doll head soon - I just couldn't get the darn string to work on my own. Its really tricky to start. Soon as I get a head and figure it out I'll make a tutorial since I know there are SO many questions about the method!

and thank YOU Mokipono! Your video was my origional inspiration for starting to modify a method like this! I was planning on those small dental bands like you use to support the braided track but couldn't wait to order them Embarrassed I'm not very patient!
