Maybe its just me, but do you think the length of a womans extensions should reflect her age?

I am mid 30's and getting mine done to just below my bra-strap.

My neighbor is 50 and got super long blond straight extensions down to her butt. She is way short and she is all hair now. But her face looks "50" and hair just seems for a younger woman. Kinda looks odd but maybe thats because I know thats not her hair.

does anyone eles think ones age should be considered before selecting a length or style? or am I being stereotypical!

some people take that stereotype to the extreme by vowing that any woman after age X has to have short hair
but what you are describing, i actually agree with....if the face shows a lot of age then the extreme length, in my opinion, drags the face down with it

ITA with nursie.  I don't think there should be an absolute, hard fast rule about age and hair length.  Some older ladies can totally pull off butt length tresses, while others shouldn't venture there.  Like very many things, it just varies from person to person.

But the situation you described, I also have to agree with.  Too much hair can be overwhelming for shorter people in any age group.  Especially obviously unkempt, long hair.  In general though, I tend to love long hair on everybody!

No, I agree with you that length should be a consideration when getting hair extensions. Not just length but color. As we age our faces tend to look older if too much contrast is put against the skin like say a very dark brown on pale skin. It can emphasize blue under the eyes and wrinkles. All the things we want to minimize! Not saying an older woman can not pull off a beautiful, deep brunette color but what I have seen that works best is stay away from cool shades around the face and eyes and opt to mix in some warm tones. Complexion is also a consideration of course.

As far as length, it really depends because longer hair can make a person look more youthful simply because we tend to associate long or thick hair with teens or younger people in general so I have seen it go both ways honestly. In my personal opinion I think its always a good idea to try to stick as closely as you can to what you would have naturally say if your hair was just able to grow longer meaning if your natural hair is fine and straight, go with fine and straight extensions. Also too much hair can way down a face, especially on a person mid 30s and older. I’m 35 and aging okay but I would not do some of the crazy things now, I have done at 20 and 25. It would look silly but once again these are just my observations and the important thing is to have fun with your hair!

Ive never been one to worry about sterotyping what I should wear how I should look etc. I usually wear (hair clothes or whatever) and do what I think looks right on me.

I think long, healthy, luscious locks look good on any woman regardless of age. Big%20smile

It depends on the person. I caught part of a Dr.Phil show where the mother-in-law had long brown hair with bangs. I don't know how old she was but she looked to be in her 70's. She looked like a witch with hair extensionsLOL. I was expecting her to jump up at any moment and say "I'll get you my pretty and your little dog too!!!"LOLLOL

I watched an episode of a reality Beverly Hills plastic surgery show.  A wealthy 50-something had the works done...eyes, face, neck...you name it, she lifted it.  Spent all that money and went through all that time recuperating.  In her after frames she still had old lady helmet hair.  It aged her more than her wrinkled eyes or drooping nasal folds ever did.
I've seen some older women carry off longer hair very well...it really was more their attitude...you could tell they were comfortable in their skin.... they had confidence.  Then I've seen some who were definitely trying way too hard to be something they weren't.
For my 45-ish head, I prefer 12-14"...that's the length that makes me feel good...it's who I amWink

Biker chicks always seem able to pull it off no matter their age. As a matter of fact, the older chicks look much better with longer hair than the younger ones.

LOL, that is kind of true. I live in New Hampshire and some claim its "The Biker Capital" of the country. That is debatable but I see a lot of biker girls around and I agree some look great with the long flowing locks behind the bike. Of course I’m sure most grow their hair that long but some could be extensions, who knows. I’m not going to ask a biker chic I don’t know if her hair is fake and get beat up. Just kidding! hahah

I am " a biker chick" it is true not many have hair extensions, or that I know of anyway. Biker men do prefer women with log hair, but there are alot with short or shoulder length hair.

I think men in general very often like long hair but most like it well kept and clean and shiny and touchable. Long hair that is nasty and dirty is less desireable then nice short hair. At least a guy I was dating at one point explained it that way.
