There are two basic reasons why a professional barber's line-up looks sharper than an amateurs. One, he is a professional barber, who most likely went to barber school and, two, he uses professional grade clippers, not over the counter clippers, that provide superior cutting quality.

Not always. The main Andis outliners sold otc is called the "Headliners," while others go by different names. Basically the blades are not tuned as sharp and the mechanical and accessory parts are of less quality.

They do use the t-outliners, but they have the technique. Try rubbing a wet rag over the area that you want to line-up. It will help to give you that fresh from the barber cut.

The barber I used to go to had some sharp ass outliner. I don't know what he had or did but man you walked out of there looking like he just did a f**king trigonometry problem on your head.
