Trust me, it isn't easy, but I take my time and do a few over a period of a week or so. It's a lot of work. Doing my base color right now, hope it turns out okay and doesn't turn those pretty highlights green! LOL! That would be awful!

ahh yes, green highlights would not be good.....i have a question....would it have been easier (now listen, i have no idea in hell about this) to have done the base color then highlights? what are you gonna go with on your base? i really think your hair looks great right now...but i know believe me i know that when you are on a quest for hair color, the perfect hair color, that you gotta do what ya gotta do....lol.

Yes, I do think that is the correct way to do the tone on tone look. I think this will work fine though. I was just kidding about green highlights. I use Miss Clairol Moongold for my base, it always gives me a pretty gold color and tones the bleached highlights quite well. I'm not really on a quest anymore, but do like this color quite a bit. Here's a pic, darn camera, that color is not perfect but it's pretty close to how it looks.

I REALLY like the style of your hair too, Rebekah. I'd like that for myself. I'm always himming and hawing over cutting it though. I WANT to but I'm afraid. What kind of hair do you have? Is it fine?
P.S. Moongold is really such a gorgeous color!

My hair is very fine and very thick. I need a lot of layers or it just lays there. If you want to cut layers just start with a few longer layers, if you like it then go for more. I always make sure to keep my "bangs" longer, cause they drive me nuts in my face.
I used L'Oreal Cremelights highlighting kit from Sally Beauty. I left it on my hair for 35 mins. My hair is tone on tone blonde. Meaning that I have a base color that I do all over then I foil in some highlights.
