There has been all this talk recently about using braiding hair in sew in weaves and that it can prevent slipping and extend the wear time.

I am interested in using this on my next install but is it something I need to buy and bring with me to the stylist in the right color?

Does anyone know of a site that has a photo of it so i can see how it looks? Thanks

Hey Krimsa, I would call your extensionist and if she has it. My braider actually
uses human hair, not synthetic but I don't know if it matters. I almost think synthetic would have more grip but I'm not sure.

How are your tracks holding up so far? If they're not slipping too much you may not even need it. The rubber bands might be just as good. How long has it been since your last install?

Oh its fine, totally snug. I think she just used thread and rubber bands on me so maybe I dont need it or she doesnt like it. They seem to all have their own ways of doing it.

Maybe if it isnt broken, dont try to fix it?

yeah, that's a different technique altogether. But if you want to try it with cornrows, call your stylist and see if  she knows how to cornrow with added hair, If she does but doesn't have the synth, you can buy it at the BSS. It may say KANEKALON Jumbo ponytail, jumbo braiding hair or something like that. Ask, they'll point it out to you. They usually run between $1-$3 per pack, you'll only need one.

Thanks. Im going someplace new to get the re-do because I will be in town and its just easier than trying to get back to Dorchester. This is the place:

http://www.knottydreadz.com/index.html

Its always sketchy going to a new place though because i dont know for certain if they can do the same thing I have done already. I was hoping just to go in there, have them look at it and if they can do the same thing great. I dont have anything exotic, just a sew in as far as I know. I might ask them about braiding hair and see if they normally use it.

Since they're braiders they'll probably use cornrows instead of the technique you have now. You can call and ask. Do you want to try the cornrows or would you prefer the bands? And don't forget to print that couponBig%20smile.

Krimsa.. I'm gonna BEAT you girl..LOLLOL Didn't I already explain this the other day??LOLLOL

Call your stylist to ask if you want to be sure, but I am pretty positive you do not have to bring synthetic hair yourself.. I have NEVER had a braider require me to bring the sythetic hair in the 20+ years of getting braided weaves.. It think the ONLY reson you may have to bring in your own synthetic hair is if you are blonde and the stylist did not have blonde synthetic hair.. If you are a brunette you should be fine..

As for what it looks like, it will not "look" like anything.. the hair is braided into the cornrow, so there will be no noticeable difference.. It will look like a cornrow braid..

Diva I know you said that i read it but ya know, its a new place and now Im not certain if I have cornrows or what! Im just gonna email the lady that did this and ask her to tell me exactly what she did so I can duplicate it lol. Then she might wonder why Im not coming back this time and get all offended. Its just a driving issue and I plan on going back to her the next. Hopefully its no big deal.

Girl don't worry about what she thinks.. Call her and ask because it's your head and you are curious about what she did..LOLLOL She doesn't need to know ANYTHING else.. I "broke up" with my stylist last year, and I never felt obligated to explain.. Things change and people change, and you have to do what's best for you..Tongue

Yeah Diva. I will just email and ask "how did you do this" because I like it but not mention anything about going to another place this next time.

Now if its not cornrows, what else could it be? How would they attach the wefts to my head?? Do you mean the rubber bands MSHoney? I have that but my assumption was they still needed to do the cornrows and then they sew the weft to that and then she just used rubber bands as extra reinforcement?? Im totally confused now lol

I think if you check out Mokipono's site you'll find a video with the rubberbands, I think. The rubberbands and the sew ins are two totally different techniques. Many extensionist who don't know how to cornrow will use the rubberbands instead.   There's also a technique that only uses thread. There are other techniques also.
