Okay i will look thanks. Come to think of it I never remember her like grabbing my hair or pulling it. It was more like she layed the weft there and started sewing. I will check out that site.
The very best advice for you is to let your extensionist (who ever you go to) LET THEM DO IT THE WAY THAT WORKS BEST FOR THEM. If you try and make the new braider do what the old braider did, you could wind up with a mess. He may have never done that technique before.....
Seriously, it's really important to let your extensionist decide what will be the best for you. The gal that uses rubberbands probably depends on that technique for enough traction. I have found when doing Caucasian hair extensions I rarely use synthetic unless the hair is too short or to fine to get a good hold of. If the braider doesn't know what he's doing then no amount of synthetic will make it better.
If you contact your extensionist to get her technique, it would'nt hurt to just mention those few words to her about distance, and not because of the work she did, and you'll be back next time. Hop in here Sand, Metal, and other working extensionist, I know there's a bunch. When an extensionist is doing her best work it still kinda hurts a little. After 30 years of doing hair it still kinda hurts just a little to be rejected. That's right girls 30 years. I started from my mothers womb.
Almost every week I will get someone who wants some special type of attachment for me to do. In the beginning I would to try and accommidate them. If it didn't work out it was my fault, and they would be dissapointed. If the job comes out really great then it will because of the first extensionist. In that type of situtation you can't win for trying. Just do your best, and let the chips fall where they may.
Okay. That is probably really good advice. Its kind of scary going to a new place and just having no idea if they can duplicate this method. What if they cant tell what it is? I mean its not the easiest thing just looking at it on someone's head and then if they do take it out to look under and cant get it back in snug, then what.
I will try to figure out what she did exactly and know the terminology, then call this place on the phone and ask if they do that in terms of a sew in and see what they say. If I get that weird vibe from them like they might be saying they can do it but cant, I will hold off till I can get back to Nancy. Its still snug I just wanted to get it done there instead of a 2 hour drive to her this time.

I left a stylist over a year ago, and honestly I never had to tell him why.. To me it's just business, and I didn't think I was under any real obligation to tell him why I stopped coming.. He and I are still friends, and based on the last conversation we had about the changes he's making to his salon, it was clear he knew WHY I (and others) had stopped coming to him..

If you are looking for a stylist who only does the method your current stylist uses, you can either stick with her or keep looking until you find another stylist closer to you who uses this same method.. Just because another stylist can't duplicate or doesn't do the same method as your current stylist it is no reflection of their ability to do a good job with your hair.. So instead of asking them if they do "this method", ask them instead to tell you about the methods they do use.. Then make your decision..

I know you're afraid but I think you want total control of the situation and unless you're doing your own hair you're not going to get it. I can tell you're a planner, a perfectionist to some degree, I am too but you're going to have to make a choice stick with it and let the chips fall where they may. You're not getting a permanent procedure done if you don't like it have them remove it you can always go back to your original stylist.
You've done your research, but no amount of research is going to calm you right? Been there as a matter of fact I GO there all of the time. You have to just do it afraid. That's what you did with your current stylist right? Didn't everything work out ok?
You do not have to have rubberbands for it to work. It is just one of MANY excellent techniques used to add wefts to hair.
They said they are experienced with caucasian hair so they know how to cornrow to prevent slippage. Just ask them how do they install weaves on white girls hair what techniques do they use and then decide if it's someplace you would like to go.
We're trying to talk you down from the bridge girl. Go get your hair did
Thanks. Oh its not THAT major of a deal. Worse case scenerio, I go there, have them do it and it slips or something. I would rather not pay the money (probably wont be that bad) and then its dangling and need to rush back to Nancy to fix it. If that happens, it happens. I would be more worried about any dammage being done to the wefts themselves so they cant be re-used by Nancy. That would be a bit of a problem as this hair is not cheap. i will tell them NO CUTTING of the wefts. They should not need to be anyway.
And Diva in NO WAY was I implying what this new place does is shoddy work. Hell, Ive never been there and they might use a new technique on me I like better for all i know. Nancy replied by email to call her and its easier for her to explain what was done over the phone so she doesnt mind. Thats cool. Chances are, I will just end up waiting to go back to her anyway. It will hold up while Im in Florida, its just that Florida has a LOT of salons that do weaves so now Im curious because where I am from its very limited. Thats all thats going on really. Thanks for the advice and I might go to this new place for a consult at the very least. Let them know I like this method but what all do they do there. Easy enough.

If your style will hold up, and you are only in Florida for short
term visit, I would wait.. The only way I would visit a stylist away
from home is if I KNEW their work.. For example if I'm ever in DC or
Atlanta I have stylists in those areas that I would go see in a
HEARTBEAT.. (I may possibly get to the DC stylist if I'm assigned to
this new project we're working on)
You might be better off waiting it out girl.. Now like MsHoney said,
come on down off that ledge, and let's got get some drinks.. A few
martini's and you'll be right as rain girl!

LOL. I better come clean here girls. I have a suspended drivers license (I can get it reinstated soon but not yet) so thats another issue as to why its hard for me to get around. I have to rely on people (usually male friends) to drive me to here and there. Thats why I wanted to get it done in Florida while Im there and the salon is bus distance.
Im just gonna go in the salon there and see what they do.
