I tried the asian. Its wonderful. Its so sleek. It doesnt get poofy at all. That was my only vice with the indian I've used.It has way too much volume. My hair is pretty flat naturally. The asian matched very well.Although its soft its coarser in touch than indian hair.At least what I tried was.Which is okay because my hair is a little on the coarser side as well.

To be honest though I was much more impressed with the elite thermofiber. It was so straight and sleek. Its softer than the asian and indian.Plus its alot nicer to my credit card.

Hi LongHair,

Brigid and I just spent a few days with the US distributor for a major hair wholesaler.

His company sells all types of hair from everywhere (Russia, China, Korea, India, South America, North America...you name it).  The guy has been in the hair trade for over 30 years and with some big name companies.

I bombarded him with non-stop questions and he showed me every type of hair imaginable.  I asked him if he could have any hair in the world what type he would buy.  He said it would depend on his own hair type and texture (fine, thick, coarse, straight, wavy), how healthy the hair was, the process that the hair was put through to prepare it and a few other variables BUT he said his wife (lucky lady) has worn every type of hair imaginable and that both he and she actually prefers Asian hair over Russian, Indian.

He also said that great advances are being made in synthetics.  He had some with him that actually felt soft and silky.

Nice man.  He actually personally knows all the major cast and characters who have appeared on this site at various times so it was quite interesting to get inside scoops.  :-)

We also spent 3 hours talking about adhesives, tape, clips, grades of hair.  He actually had hair long enough for my  thigh length hair that was blonde but it cost many thousands.  I decided to pass on that idea or buying it for my own head.  :-)  The hair was actually Asian.

This biz is so fascinating and constantly changing.  He also had tons of lacefronts and other fun fashion wigs.  I considered holding him hostage for a week while I asked him questions but somehow he escaped when I wasn't looking.  :-)

That sounds awesome.Thats interesting that he prefers asian.Especially when people seem to be so gaga over russian, not that I blame them its so pretty. But asian seems to be pretty hardy against chemical processing.

Hi...still working on the profile I promised.

No photos...damn...but I think the next time I meet with him I will ask if I can take photos.  There was hair hanging everywhere on the walls.  I was salivating.  :-)  And lots of wigs in every color.  WHEW.  My head was spinning.

Actually this guy had a LOT to say about hair.  It was quite shocking based on what I thought I knew about hair.  One thing he pointed out to me is that if you look at a map of Russia you will notice that China and Russia are next to each other and that some hair that might seem to be from Russia is really Chinese.  He also told me that since things have changed in Russia (modernization and updated economy) it is harder to get Russian hair and that marketing sizzle creates a lot of fog around what is real.

I am still learning but will continue to dig.  I am happy to share as I find out more.

Does the asain come in wavy? or just straight?  I wonder if his wife had straight or wavy hair and I wonder what he would reccomend for wavy hair.  Too bad you couldn't get more out of him sounds like you did good though considering he got away.

Hi,

I believe his wife has straight hair.  He got away on Friday but I have his phone number and know where to find him...so trust me...I will be asking lots more questions.  We also had a long talk about Yaki and I was amazed at what he told me.  So I will be digging into that topic next.  :-)

Hi,

I asked and he declined.  He has actually lurked here before but feels it is inappropriate to get involved since he is a manufacturer and distributor.  I understand his position because he does walk on a lot of fine lines.  Meanwhile I am going to pick his brain until he stops talking to me when I become a major pest.  :-)

Hi Diva,

Deep Hair Throat (good name don't ya think) told me that Yaki originated from yaks.  The real animal kinds.  Except not the domesticated ones.  The wild ones.  I didn't believe him but I asked 2 other hairdressers I know what Yaki hair was and theuy both told me the same thing.  They actually would use wild yak hair on the original Yaki.

Did you know that?  I had no idea.

Definitely the jewelry man.  You could always sell the big fat diamonds and buy hair with them.  :-)

My Russian hair supplier has hair from a country in Russia called Georgia. The hair looks like wavy Asian hair, bur feels more like Caucasian hair, but maybe a little thicker.
