I've been wearing human hair for a couple of years now and I'd like to give thermo or WAWA a try. I've been researching for a couple of hours and wawa seems to be the favourite over thermo.

I'm looking to buy some no shorter than 18" really, though I'm wearing 21" hair atm and I'd really like to try a little longer if possible...

But I'm wondering if I should go for colour 1b or colour 2 in the brown?

Heres a  few recent pics:
Excuse the posey shots- I'm a Photography student!LOL

The colours I'm wearing atm are 1b and i THINK colours 14/16. But I dn't worry about an exact match with the caramel since I'm not matching it to a colour in my own hair, since all my own hair (which is about 14 inches now) is all coloured dark brown.

I've been looking at websites and the wawa 1b looks to come out very dark =/ I'm wondering if I should go a shade lighter or not?
I'm not sure since this wil be my first time buying man-made hair...

Additionally, I was wondering if anyone had anymore sites that sell good quality, decently priced wawa that wn't fry quickly besides shrinkies.net (which doesn't have any caramel in stock atm), Vixen Wigs on ebay (which doesn't have straight in the length I want) and Plastikhaar (which doesn't have the colours!)

I'm looking for straight asI've read its better quality than the bodywave and also in wefts since I've never used bulk hair as it scares me :)

Hi Cryption.
I just typed a nice long reply to your post and then it didn't post! GRRR!!! Angry Anyway, here is the summary.

I have the same color hair as you (1b) and I would (and do) get a pack of 2 and a pack of 1B in Elite thermo and mix them. They blend really well. I also just purchased some wawa from vixen wigs in wavy. Lightning fast shipping and I believe I saw some in 20" straight. She is very sweet and helpful so you could always email her and ask.

I have been wearing Elite thermo for a few months (different installs) and loved it! I was really impressed and I've discovered some tips to make it spring back to life (like using downy on it!) - I've posted some of them so you can do a search or you can PM me. I'm happy to help in any way I can.

I did an install last night with some left over indian human I had and another pack I bought. I'll post picks, but I desperately need to switch (my thermo had reached the end of it's little life) and had the human handy so figured - hey, why not. I wanted a wavy texture because it was destroying my hair flat ironing it every day to match the thermo - my hair is very wavy naturally.

ANYWAY!!! If you are going to keep the straight look - I would go with elite thermo. I haven't tried the wawa for longer than a couple of weeks - I curled in and screwed it up, but that was my fault. I've ordered the wavy this time to see how that holds up. The great thing with synth is that it is cheap enough that you don't have to feel bad if you take it out and toss it. I personally don't like the way the elite thermo curls - it looks fake to me when it's curled.

If you live in CA a lot of the Beauty stores stock wawa, you could call around and ask.

Good luck!!!

Wawa is crap!
But if you insist, you'll want #2, the 1b is pretty much black.
^..^

Thank you cat for your longe response!

Sadly when I checked, Vixen had no 1b in stock! :( But I did manage to order some blonde in wavy, some pure black and some colour 2. So hopefully a mix of the black and colour 2 might blend to form 1b! Fingers crossed, since I know vixens hair will probably not blend as much as natural human hair does.

Thanks for the info, ill run a search and check your tips ;] I'll need all I can get since it'll be my first time wearing wawa.

Ahhhhhh the dreaded flat ironing :( I havn't straigtened my natural hair in months, i tend to blow dry it instead if i want it a little straighter since I'm so scared of damage and my hair is fine. I'd love to see pics of your new install!

is the hair vixen sells only wawa? I've heard that thermo gets tangley and frizzy quicker, what ar your experiences with it? And, just out of curiosity, how did you managed to ruin wawa by curling it?!

Poose, oh really! Why such a negative approach to wawa? Have you had bad experiences with the stuff?

Hi Cryption,
I screwed up the wawa but curling the ends, I think and it got all frizzy and weird.

I recieved my packs of wawa from vixen and I have to says I am a little disappointed. It isn't NEARLY as soft and shiny as elite thermo - I am so mad that elite thermo doesn't come in Wavy - why oh why????? Angry

Yes, vixen wigs only sell wawa. The elite thermo does tangle more quickly than really good quality human hair, but frankly, it is much better than the lower end human hair. I found that it stayed much silkier longer than say the Unique Wiiv Silky straight. I think the pros of the elite outway the cons.

So, anyway, I've got the wawa now and I'm going to use them (maybe - or resell them on ebay after Poose's comments) I might try one pack and see how they do - the wawa is not shiny at all - and my hair is very shiny and silky which is both a blessing and curse, because it blends great with the shinyness of the elite.

Anyway, I'm going to post pics of my new install this weekend!
