Well I got my sew in and I love my hair. It looks like sexy full movie star hair. I love love love it. The lady that braided it was really good the braids are very small. They feal really secure I don't think they are going anywhere anytime soon. There was only one weird thing she did. When she got through making the two braids she said she was tightening the two braids together. On the side that she ended the braids on she pulled a string and made the braids come together. The problem with it is it caused a big bump of hair to stick out on that side. Other then that though its perfect and this lady knows what she's doing. She used the synthetic hair in the braid and the braids were small. The hair I used is Russian and Bohyme. I have about two ounces of Russian and one ounce of Bohyme.
I have a question about the tightness of it. I know people have asked this before but I am curious if the tightness is too much or just right. It feels really tight it doesn't hurt when I am standing up but if I lay my head down it does hurt and pull a little. Last night it was kind of hard to get comfortable to sleep. Does this sound too tight or just right? and when will it loosen up?
Well here are some pics. I just love how it added fullness even to the top of my hair. Please ignore my face!!
WOW Julia, this is the best install I've seen on you. The Russian looks like absolute perfection. Is it medium brown? My latest batch have these dreamy loose waves, too. Love it!
Wow your hair looks great !!!! I love those waves that is the exact texture I am looking for. I just got a sew in as well and I prefer this method to all the others I have tried. The tightness sounds normal to me. When I lie down that is when I feel the pull. Not to worry it will loosen.

Thanks everyone, Amm, I am not sure what the color of the Russian is cause it was matched by a picture. If I had to guess I would think dark brown though cause the pics of the medium brown looked lighter to me. The color of the bohyme is number 4 and the Russian is slightly darker then that. DanaCo, the texture of the bohyme is bodywave texture. After all the years of struggling with my wavy hair I have now decided that I like wavy hair best. Diva, I wouldn't say that they require no maintenance cause they have a tendency to look like your hair is messy but now people are liking that sexy bedroom messy look so I guess maybe they are. The tightness was better last night or I got used to it. Its starting to feel better already. Thanks for the help with the tightness question. Is kind of a scary feeling wondering if your hair is gonna be pulled out.
Looks gorgeous and so natural. Love it. I think now the Russian and Bohyme is defintiely the bomb together because its the best of both worlds.
I dont thnk they should be so tight that they cause discomfort when you sleep. That will also make you want to pick at them more. I dont understand this tieing together thing and Diva mentioned it also. Whats up with that? Why cant they just make the individual wefts tighter and let it go.
They will loosen with time though. Mine took eh, couple weeks and I was totally at ease with it. As your hair grows out again, it will keep getting looser and looser also.
But maybe she can untie them from being together? I dont think that method is optimal for all weaves.
Do you use a certain product to keep the curls looking so soft? Anytime I get a wavy or loose curl texture (or even straight) it always tends to frizz. Tips?
The Russian wont frizz at all because its so healthy. Thats been my experience with it anyway and I live in high humidity. but you could probably use some kind of a smoothing serum and if all else fails, braid braid braid lol
Do you blow dry? I think that is my problem first and foremost. When I fall asleep with damp hair, I wake up with perfect curls, but I can't stand to walk around with wet/damp hair, so I alwys blow dry. Tried the diffuser and not much help. By the way, Krimsa, the hair is long now so ready to try out those braids. I did the twist sock mehtod and it worked GREAT!
I blow try the tracks and all my top hair but more or less let the extension length just hair dry. This hair just does not seem to tangle in the least and i can just pick through with my fingers. I use a speck of conditioner on the ends only.
I also am not wearing tons of hair and only 3 oz of a very fine textured straight Russian so it wont take ages to dry anyway. You can alsways squeeze it a bit with a towel but dont rumple it up at all.
With a sew in though you NEVER want to sleep on damp tracks. Its just not a good idea and if you keep doing that, you might get mildew up in there.

I haven't played with the hair much yet but before I installed it I just washed it and treated it like my own hair. On my own hair which is some of the waves you see I just scrunch with gel and let it air dry. I am using L.A. looks sport gel right now seems pretty good. I can't wait to wash it and see what it can do. I can get my hair really wavy and I want to see how it goes with the other hair.

Yah I don't know why she tied the two tracks together. She just did it on one side. If she did not do that the install would be perfect. Next time I will try and ask her not to do that. While she was doing it she said it would hurt some and that it was neccessary though so I did not want to question her but next time I will. I was also considering having someone help me untie it.
That Russian looks closer to a dark brown to me but its hard to tell in that light. I got dark brown and it looks almost just like that but bone straight.
The straight Russian waves quite nicely but Ive never tried to full on curl it or anything. It might fight that a bit but my natural hair is straight and that was what I wanted to start so it matched well.
Did you say you had wavy or stright Russian? What is the Bohyme?

Well nobody's hair is "no maitenance" hair except on T.V.. I think every woman's dream is to be to wake up all done up and ready and just roll like they do on T.V.? But I remember my wavy install last year and how much I loved the low maintenance factor.. I really only brushed the hair and occasionally misted it with a lite oil sheen spray.. I've been on the bubble about going back to a wavy install, but your install has inspired me and pushed me over the edge to go wavy again for my next install.. Your hair looks awesome!!!

Sewing the tracks together is not an unusual part of this method or even something new.. It's a common technique used by a lot of weavologists to help keep the braids from falling or slipping before their time.. It's also the common method way to "tighten" a weave. There are many variations on this technique including net weaves. In general it's done to help give the style some longevity and staying power..
