A while back someone posted something about using some kind of red tape on the weft BEFORE appling the tape for install. For the life of me, and despite a few searches, I can't find the posting. Can anyone tell me what this tape is and how I get my hands on some?

I just got some beautiful indian and I AM NOT going through what I just went through cleaning of tracks. What a nightmare.

Thanks ladies!!!

Apparently it was on another forum. The tap is "red liner tape" - I'm doing some research and will post my findings.

Wow....it really IS called "red liner tape" and it's for crafts and stuff. I bet you could buy it at Joannes but I found it online here...

I think you could probably do the same thing with supertape. Supertape is clear. You may not want to have red tape on you wefts, it would show. I can't remember if it's matt or shiny but Sherrie sales it and sells matt tape too http://hairextensions101.com/main/index.php?page=shop.browse&category_id=13&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=26

Thanks Ms. Honey - I do actually already use supertape and I love it. I think I'm actually going to try my next install without using any tape, and just use LG. I haven't decided yet. My last install, the supertape actually stuck to the piece directly below it and tangled my hair in between. I took me 30 minutes and 1 million sprays of goo gone to get it out. Not cool! I see that Frenchie loves her installs using only LG so I might give it a go.

No it wouldn't. Red tape is so clear you can see through it. The tape itself is not red, only the backing is that color and it peels off easily and gets thrown away.

Now what is the point of putting the red tap underneath the supertape???

I think it's not supposed to leave a sticky residue and saves time because the other tapes which supposedly leaves a sticky residue will be attached to it, not the weft. I assume it's not good enough to use on it's own.

The red line tape has been around for years. Before extensions were popular it was used on mens hair pieces to keep any of the perma bond glue off the inside of the piece. The times I've used it, it peeled right off. I would be careful not to get it on the hair just the wefted part at the top only.

Yes, I was talking to a man who wears toupees and he said he like the red tape.   He told me his wife started using it for her DIY extensions and it does keep any stickiness to a minimum.  He thought it was funny that both of them were taping hair to their heads and made a joke about sharing toothpaste and toupee tape.

Hey y'all, I found this video on youtube. It's an easy way to remove residue from a lace front wig but I'm sure it'll work on wefts too. The tape residue should come right off. http://youtube.com/watch?v=kQ6Z6JtQL-8&mode=user&search=
