Has anybody tried this?  I have had hairlocs for 2 weeks and to me - they still suck.  I have naturally curly hair so it is hard to work with.  My hair alone is enough - I don't need more.  Anyway, I'm thinking of taking them out myself.  After this waste of money I'll learn to do more with my natural hair!

I asked my stylist and she said if I wanted to I could drown my hair with a really good conditioner with lots of silicone in it and slide them out.

Has anybody else tried this?    I don't want damage - I already see damage when these things fall out - my hair is attached to these locs (small pieces) but none the less - my hair!

Please let me know and people please - DON'T JUST LOOK and not post!

I wouldn't slide then down your hair. That doesn't sound good.
Tangles is very familiar with hairlocs, perhaps she will chime in. Tangles,
how do you remove them from your own hair?

What are hair locs?
Are those like micro links?

If they are, grab your pilers....
The sliding down w/ conditioner will work too, but since your hair will be wet, it will damage your hair.

you can also order the special tool from "your hair shop" for removing links/locs.

I would email cali-kristen at www.yourhairshop.com and ask her. SHe really knows her stuff. It is a claw like tool and that is what the hairdressers use to remove the locs anyways. it only costs $15 if you can wait. Otherwise patience and a flat head pair of pliers might work. I also got hairlocs recently, and have naturally curly hair and hate hate them. They feel like little pieces of metal poking my head and are not comfortable at all. Also the hair used is crap and doesn't match my own so I have to completely flat iron my to death to match it to the extension hair...kinda defeating the purpose. I totally sympathize with you. I have had much better luck with wefts (clips or tape) and GL . I didn't get damage with GL but am seeing more damage with the locs.

Sofi - You really made me THINK - what a moran I am!  You are right - I could just order the tool myself.  Well - I went to Sally's Beauty where I live and got a tool but this one doesn't work.   I paid $35.00 for it and they BETTER take it back or I'm going to kick some A!!   Anyway, I still haven't taken out the locs - I'm scared to!    I don't TOTALLY hate them - they do match the texture of my hair and the color and they don't hurt at all!   If any of this makes it better????     I don't know how to explain it - it has only been 2 weeks and I have lost many of them (with my small strands of hair attached).    I know I am NOT going to have a reinstall - it just isn't natural and cost a ton of money.  I'm just not seeing the results I wanted and for this kind of money - it aint going to work!    Believe me - if I was in love with these things - I would find the money some way!  But - it just isn't there!

By the way - what do you plan to do with yours?

Thanks again!

I really dislike that tool (the claw like tool)...and a few years ago everyone was claiming it was that tool that caused all of the damage with hairlocs. That when you inserted that tool into the ring that it damages/breaks the hair. I would recommend the pliers with the grooves for reopening rings.

sorry its taken me a few to answer- i was out of town since thursday-
first off-
Please dont try to remove them yourself without proper tools or knowledge
after having them in for two weeks and your not happy- your stylist in my opinion, should be willing to make u happy, purhaps she didnt put the correct texture in to begin with?
I can only respond how i would if one of my clients was not happy- after two weeks, i would take them out without any fee. that would be me, not saying she should do this, however, i really work hard on making sure my clients are happy.
The tool with the prongs, if used wrong, could really do some damage. i dont use that tool. i have a special tool i had made for me that re rounds the clyinders.
Where abouts do u live?

Hi ANG- I am planning on removing mine. I don't think I want to go back to the stylist who put them in. I don't think she did a good job and don't want her damaging my hair further. She also didn't match all the locs to my hair color....I have some "white locs" in my hair and i have darker hair.

I tried using pliers but you have to be careful or you can cut your hair. I think it is best to let someone else take them out. I have a really good hairdresser near me who does every method of extension but just didn't have years and years of hairlocs experience (that is why I went to try someone new who had been doing it for years....BIG Mistake that was). So I am going to go to my hairdresser and have her remove them for me and replace it with something else....either the shrinks or GL. I really liked the GL and didn't have any trouble removing them and no more damage than I have seen with the hairlocs. In all cases, you will see your own hair in the shed or fallen strands as your naturally shedding hair will get trapped in the locs/bond since we all shed about 100 strands a day. Make sure that the shed hair has a little whitish tip...not a bulb but a tip and then you are ok. if there is no tip, it could have been cut or yanked out. I think the hairlocs work for people who have thick hair b/c they cannot feel the locs as much and don't poke them .....I can feel them in my head. They don' t show (unless it is windy) and are pretty hidden but just feel so un-natural.
