QuoteReplyTopic: I-Tips on Supertape? Posted: October 18 2007 at 3:16pm
Hi All,
I'm new to the forum! I've been lurking for awile now and decided to join! I'm no stranger to putting in my own extensions - usually taped wefts.
I just ordered a full set (160) of stick Dlux silky straight hair from Yourhairshop.com. (Color 18/22). I was wondering, instead of going through the hassle of the trumpet tubes again or the keratin, would it be ok if I placed the tips into the supertape strip and applied this way? I would think once they are all scrunched together in the tape it would be thicker than having to apply 2 wefts to the tape instead!
Anyone ever try this? I'll put some LG on the tape to get them to stick better. Should I heat and flatten the I-tips first or just line them up next to each other?
Sorry for all the questions!
Thanks in advance!

Hi. You could apply the hair with the tips above the tape and then cut the tips off. I wouldn't try to glue the tips to the tape I'm sure they would pull right off as soon as you brushed your hair.
I have put the i tips sandwiched between tapes before. I spread a line of LG along the tape, placed the i tips close side by side along the tape. Then I spread LG on the other side of the tape, sandwiched it closed. It worked fine. It was a bit heavy to wear, but it worked ok- I only had a few of the tips come out and I wore for a full install (about 4 weeks).
What Ms.Honey suggested I have also tried- I actually did this with the other i-tips as I mentioned above- for my top rows. The i-tips within the tape were a bit bulky to wear, so I cut the tips off for the top rows of my install . That did work a bit better comfort-wise. Just be careful that you use enough LG to really have the hair secure within the tapes- or the hair will shed like mad. But that is a good suggestion as well.
if you do as mshoney says they should work out fine. I did some on tape just like that. I placed the tips above the tape used LG in between the tapes and then cut the tips off. (I also trimmed the finished piece in this picture from 1/2 inch to 1/4 inch wide)
Thanks for the advice, all! Nice picture, Sherrie!
I may leave a little bit of the tip in to avoid some shedding.
Also, I was wondering how many rows I may need on the sides and back. If I make it thick enough and put it high enough on the sides, maybe I only need one row. I'm sure i'll need at least 2 in the back, though!
I'm really excited about getting this Dlux hair, because I had been using the crap from Sally's in the past. It felt very thick and course. It looks like Kristen shipped the hair the same day I ordered it!
First, I have to color my hair this weekend and re-do the highlights, then when I do the install next week, I'll post before and after pics when it's complete!

bumble....I get no shedding, just use enough LG. I wouldnt leave any of the tip. When Ive left the tips some tend to pull out of the tape. I do this all the time, usually using weft hair and completely cutting the weft off.
Good luck and be sure to post pictures of your install!
