You can sew in a weave without braiding...just make tracks with shrinkies or links.  Works great...I like it much better than tape.

Thats actually what I am doing now. I dont have any braids and only a track held together with rubber bands and then the wefts are sewn to that with the thread. I finally had someone explain the process to me. It holds quite nicely but Im not certain if it would work on every type of hair. I also have a fair amount of hair.
