I have a little longer than shoulder length curly(Not much curl right now)hair. I straighten it usually because even with how bad it looks in humidity, it still looks better than when it's curly. I have a black father and a white mother so I have very dry bushy hair. My parents don't want me to blow dry it straight because they said it will cause it to fall out someday. Is this true? I'm not going to put a relaxer in it. Can anyone suggest something to help with curl definition? All I need is to have something to bring them out so they're not dry looking. Gel and mousse just make them hard in some places and frizzy and dry in other places . Can anyone help?
I doubt that blowing drying you hair straight would cause it to fall out; millions of women do it every day. But it might cause you hair to become damaged do to all the heat styling. To lessen frizziness and produce soft curls, you need something to weigh your hair down. A leave-in conditioner applied to your hair while its still wet might help. Then you can blow dry it straight and it would help protect your hair from damage, or let it air dry to get more curl. There are many leave-in conditioners on the market, some specifically designed to enhance curl.
