I am an entertainer with thin, bleached hair. I had been wearing falls and clip in hair that did not work out for me. Then I had a weave, which was uncomfortable and tangled constantly. Now I have individual braided extensions that are secured by a tiny elastic. But when I move about, the braids are very noticeable. Has anyone had Great Lengths extensions? Has there been any damage caused by them or by regular fusion? Is it the same as glue? Does anyone provide them in the NY/NJ/CT tri-state area? Sorry for so many questions, but I am having a hair crisis, and would like to know all of my options before I invest any more $$$ into my hair. Thanks!!!
I have virtually the same questions as you do. If you search through the messages there are people who have have problems with Great Lengths. Hair tends to get damaged/break when they are removed. They need to be removed around every 3 months and reapplied. I consulted with a stylist who applies them. She had very fine hair like me and had the extensions and they looked very natural - she had to point out the attachments to see them. They are very expensive- she quoted $1500 to add some volume to my hair and $3000+ to do the whole head. Other stylists I talked to said this method was virtually the same as regular bonding. Great Lengths of course claim their procedure is much safer. The braid and sew method sounds safer but I imagine it would feel as though wearing a wig all the time.
Anyone else out there had Great Lengths not only applied but removed?

Alice and I still correspond by email and she really had a great experience with Great Lengths. She kept them in the maximum amount of time and then had them removed with no bad results...according to her email. She loved the process and loved her longer hair.
Alice just wrote to me recently. She is getting ready to have hair extensions put in her hair again and she is trying a different method this time. She is flying to Philly to have the braided method appied.
She promised photos and another article so I am waiting anxiously to hear the results.

Dear Susan, I hope I won't get 'Flamed' for this but I have fine hair & had Great Lengths put in 2 years ago with the promises of my hair would be perfectly suited (as I had a cut from hell!) I payed $2,000.00 (Australian) & had 150 put in, they looked great but when I had them removed my hair was really damaged by the solvent plus the pulling as the solvent did not remove all of the bond, this also happened to my best friend who also had fine hair,the strands were very fine but my hair could not take it as they also tangled up & I spent a small fortune on Frizz Ease just to seperate them, I had extensions most of my life- the Dome method I loved cause I could get them out myself with a twist, I guess some people can use them & others not.Now I just wear a 3/4 wig or scrape my hair into a ponytail or wear a hat!!, really I think a great weave is the way to go (Itried that too-but could'nt afford the up keep)especially if you find a weave expert that doe's tiny rows.Please don't think I am trashing Great Lengths this is just MY experience & my friends as well.

what you are talking about is a called "bridging" all you basically do is attach a row of scattered monofibre extensions and then attach a weft of hair to the extensions but be very careful as if you are not trained hands-on you can get into all sorts trouble for more info on extensions visit www.domecosmetics.com or www.mane.co.nz or e-mail me at press@mane.co.nz for any further questions
