Okay.. i have crazy hair. Im mixed with black and white and my hair doesnt know exactly what it wants to do :) Its naturally curly but I have a relaxer in it now. I also color treat my hair so it tends to be a bit on the dry side :) I use the Motions line of relaxer shampoo and conditioner. I LOVE the shampoo and conditioner..makes my hair feel great. I recently tried the Artec smoothing shampoo and conditioner and that worked really well for me as well so now i go back and forth. I also just tried the Ouidad deep conditioner and i havent made up my mind on that one yet. I go back and forth between blow drying my hair straight and just letting it dry. Either way I use either the Artec or motions line towel blot my hair..spray in some Infusium 23 and add a little Nexxus Humentres (on occasion). I add Moisture Maxx which is an oil hairdress and blow dry. and if im going curly a little Ouidads climate control and let it air dry

I have used a lot of products over the years and I find that a lot of store brands dont cut it for my hair. Pantene is the only one that did okay. I keep my hair trimmed on a regular bases and that helps a lot! Ive also tried the Olive oil treatment mentioned in an earlier thread and that is wonderful for your hair especially if it is really dry.

I only use a big comb or a pick on my hair when its wet and i usually put the leave in treatment before i comb it out. Someone once told me that instead of washing their hair everyday they just wet it with a little water then spray some infusium 23 on it. she had curly hair.

Hope this helps you!

Hi!
I'm not an expert or anything, but I DO spend a good
deal of time finding out stuff about hair, so some of this
may be of use!

Try rotating products, using Biolage for a couple of
weeks then switching to something else. Eventually
products stop working if you use them for too long, I try
and buy a different brand every time I run out of
shampoo (often, I have a lot of hair), and I've really
noticed the difference.

Some products I really like in the regular
shampoo/conditioner range are Clairol Daily Defence
(not a cheapie, but the best I've ever had!), *anything* by
Neutrogena (is that available in the US??), and some
Herbal Essences stuff but that's slightly unreliable,
works great for some but not for others.
As far as Hot Oils/Deep Conditioning are concerned,
this is what I have right now:

VO5 Hot Protein Treatment (this is a creme, not an
actual Oil, so it probably wouldn't cause breakouts) -
works well but requires 10 minutes of long boring
waiting, 'fraid I'm too impatiant for that but if you have
time on your hands...

VO5 Hot Oil (genuine oil, not the creme stuff) - best I've
ever found, it comes in 3 little tubes and you really need
a whole tube per go, so it's NOT very good money-wise,
but it works in *ONE MINUTE* and works well at that.

I also have a John Freida intensive conditioner, but I
wouldn't recommend it to anyone, it takes hours to
rinse out for precious little results. It's also fiendishly
expensive.

I don't use salon brands because a) my
hairdresserphobia is so bad I can't walk into a salon
without going to pieces, and b) I'm on a budget. So no
comment on them from a Personal point of view, but
"Nexxus" comes HIGHLY recommended by pretty much
the whole world, tried their stuff? Has anyone? I'd really
like to know more about this one, it's constantly
name-dropped...

Dry hair really DOES NOT need to be washed every day,
and maybe not every other day either. I usually go 3
days and I have slightly greasy roots. Basically, leave it
alone til it NEEDS washing, don't just wash for the heck
of it. This is something really worth remembering,
overwashing is something a lot of people do and it
does cause drying out...

As for my own hair, it's long, medium thickness,
straight, and dyed black. Not in the best shape due to
dye, neglect and bad combs (invest in a good comb!
don't make my mistakes! try
http://www.kent-brushes.co.uk! avoid cheap plastic
combs like the plague! ok enough on that...), and like I
said, slightly greasy, but with dry ends.
Kind of different from yours, but I reckon anything that
keeps my hair looking good will work on anybody.

Hope some of this long rambling mess of a message
helps at least a Little. :)

Lily

P.S. You can contact me at Lily@quentincrisp.com, if
you feel the need to enquire deeper on anything I've
mentioned... Or just leave a message on the board, I'm
here too much.

I was just curious as to what shampoos, conditioners, and styling products work the best for you. Oh, and also please give your hair type. I can't really find anything that works good on my hair. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have pretty much tried all drugstore brands with no luck really. Any advice on salon brands? My hair is shoulder length, brown, and it has a slight wave. I wash it everyday using Biolage Hydrating shampoo and Biolage conditioning balm. It worked really good for awhile, but now my hair is starting to dry out. I don't blow dry it except on special occasions. Should I wash it every other day? I was thinking about using an oil to deep condition once a week, but that would make me break out. Please help!! I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks for any advice.

Christine :)
