depending on the mood.

I usually do a drop of jojoba to 2 drops of turkey red or almond. my mood changes alot. ;)

then I add essential oils as well.

i don`t know if that answers your questions I will have to reread my post! lol

Hi Trix,

I just love the aroma of the B2B raspberry almond. Yummy. Do you ever mix the oils to create the drop? I am just curious because I find I get better results when I mix my jojoba with something else. Of course that is just for me.

Also, applying the oils down the lenght as you do is so great for preventing static. Great tip. Thanks so much.

"i comb it out before I shower and it always comes out perfectly detangled when I`m done, no matter what shampoo and conditioner I use. My problem is keeping it detangled throughout the day."

you and i have the same hair type and I used to have the same problem. I also used shampoos and conditioners that had silicones in them as well as "smoothing serums" which are mostly silicones. Changing products and getting a good clarifier (Back to Basics Grapefruit is what I use) did wonders for my hair. I get compliments on my hair all the time, so if I can do a 180 so can you.

How strong is your water pressure when you take your shower? I love massaging shower heads because I have a bad back, but it reaks havoc on my hair. What I do is turn the water down so the pressure isnt so harsh. Also, how are you washing your hair? do wash it in such a way as to prevent tangles -- basically wash the scalp and rinse the hair?

How healthy is your hair? do you have breakage and split ends? this will cause tangles also.

I rotate between shampoos and conditioners based on how I will style it. (air dry vs. heat styling) If I use a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner then don`t blowdry or curl it, then my hair tends to be oily by the second day (I wash my hair every 3rd day).

I have had very positive results with the back to basics line for everything. I have been using their rasberry almond shampoo and conditioner and just ordered their mint line. I also use leave in conditioners. B2B once again and a heat activated one if I am using appliances on my hair.

In place of those dry end/smoothing serums I use a drop of jojoba, almond, or olive oil. Just one drop. Too much makes your hair look greasy. I rub it over my hands then rub my hands over the last 3 inches of my hair. I have found this to keep the cuticles smoother and less likely to tangle.

The Finesse Bodifying shampoo and conditioner really don`t have any products in them to dry out your hair, but a book I have that lists the ingredients of hair care products says that the Infusion 23 can build up and have a sticky feel with repeated use. I also used to use a silicone polisher, and at first it was great! But then I started getting matty and tangled hair, as well. Incidentally, PertPlus products have quite a bit of silicone in them, and they can definitely cling to your hair, even after you wash it.

Here`s a suggestion. After you wash and conditioner your hair, add a tiny bit of conditioner to your hair **but don`t wash it out** or just barely just the water run through your hair so some of the conditioner is left in. It`s also possible that all the silicone in the polisher is building up and, making your hair sticky.

I`m not a stylist at all, but when I leave some of my conditioner in (only below the shoulders until you have an extraordinarily dry scalp), my hair became much, MUCH less tangled during the day.

You might try that for a good 6-8 washings, and if it doesn`t work, then perhaps you might want to try different products. Not all products work the same for everyone!

Some conditioners that don`t contain silicone are: 1) Aveda cherry/almond bark, reconstructive hair conditioner.

2) White Rain Class Care Conditioner Extra Body (also Class Care Conditioner Regular, Revitalizing Formula, Conditioner Moisturizing, and Conditioner Salon Formula) These aren`t really for moisturizing, though, but they are for help with detangling. My daughter has long, oily hair that tends to tangle, and this works well.

3) Clairol Conditioner, Moisturizing for Normal Hair.

4) Kerasilk by Goldwell Conditioner (very good for dry hair -- I`ve used this)

5) L`Oreal Fortavive Daily Care for Damaged Hair, Repairing Conditioner plus Ceramide-R

6) L`Oreal HydraVive Daily care for Dry hair, moisture conditioner plus hydra-protein, dry/damaged.

7) Style by Lamaur -- Coconut & Papaya conditioner maintains softness & enhances Shine, Style Deep Conditioning Conditioner Replenishes dry or treated Hair, Style Extra body Conditioner, Style Fresh apple regular conditioner, and Style moisturizing conditioner.

An awfully lot of conditioners (both drugstore and salon products) do contain silicone, so it`s not terribly easy to find one that doesn`t!

Good luck,

Jennifer

I am 19 and have had waist-length hair nearly all of my life. (it is light brown, pretty fine, and overall is on the thick side of normal). For the longest time I used Pert Plus, which worked fine, but about a year ago i noticed it was causing my hair to fall out and ever since then I``ve been trying to find something that works. My main problem is keeping my hair detangled - i comb it out before I shower and it always comes out perfectly detangled when I`m done, no matter what shampoo and conditioner I use. My problem is keeping it detangled throughout the day. I comb through a leave-in conditioner when it is damp and a polisher/detangler when it is dry. Without the polisher, my hair always ends up literally tied in knots 20min after i comb it. With it, my hair stays mostly detangled (only a few knots), but it looks uncombed shortly after I have combed it - so still, its not looking as good as I would like. The only way to keep it totally detangled and looking good is to keep it in a braid all the time (i always braid it before going to sleep), but to me part of the fun of having long hair is wearing it down. Right now I`m using Finesse Bodifying shampoo and conditioner, Infusium 23 Original leave-in conditioner, and Citre Shine Anti-Frizz Miracle Polisher, which has given me the best results so far, but still I can`t wear my hair down and have it look good for more than 20min after brushing.

I was wondering if anyone else with long hair has the problem - the girls with long hair at my compus always seem to have it looking perfect where mine looks tangled - and what products and techniques that people use to combat this problem. Thank you for your help.
