Hair extensions made 'scalp burn'

A VALENTINE'S gift left a Wakefield woman with a real headache this week.

Jodie Wakefield, 20, was delighted when her boyfriend, David Newton, 28, paid for her to have hair extensions as a Valentine's Day present.
But now she wishes she had not visited the Hair-a-Licious stall in The Ridings centre, after being left with headaches, a painful rash and without clumps of her hair.

When she visited the stall on Monday, she expected permanent hair extensions for the £46 she handed over, but this only paid for clip-on extensions.

Not satisfied, she returned the following day and demanded permanent glued-on extensions, which the stall manager agreed to carry out after she had signed a disclaimer.

She said that after the extensions were fitted she felt her scalp burning, and, after visiting another hairdresser for advice, she went to see her doctor.

She said: "It is burning and very itchy. I can't brush my hair and I've got a rash, which is burning into my head. The doctor said I have to use baby shampoo for the next few weeks because the glue has caused an allergic reaction to my scalp. They said I had to get the glue out straight away."
Stall manager Nagmar Blick said she had carried out the procedure many times before and warned Miss Wakefield of potential risks.

She added that she had gone out of her way to try and resolve Miss Wakefield's original complaint, and that Miss Wakefield had been happy with the extensions at the time.

Miss Wakefield, of Belle Vue, has since accepted a full refund from the stall. She added: "I decided to accept the refund because it was a Valentine's Day gift and I ended up with nothing."

OK...is it me...or is this a very strange story?  First of all, who would pay what is about $90.00 US for clip-ins and then go back and demand glue-ins?  Then after demanding them...getting them...and then developing an allergic reaction....complains.

Stall manager Nagmar Blick must have been having a very bad day.

I wonder if the BF researched the salon and if they are still dating?  LOL  I hope she is ok but to me, my hair is not something I want to just trust to anyone.  Which explains why I hav e consulted with different extensionist.

haha what a load of crap - that extensionist should have even agreed to do her hair when she had only paid for clip ins in the 1st place.. This is what happens when people dont research what they are getting..

What I thought was bizarre about this whole thing was that originally the BF bought her clip-in extensions which would definitely cost in the range quoted.  However, to go back and insist on "fusion" of any kind is insane.  What legit hairdresser would do that without charging a lot more money?  And can you just imagine what type of hair was used if she didn't make any more?

I can't think of a single hairdresser I know being wiling to exchange clip-ins that were worn for fusion with different hair.  The whole thing is very strange.

Now that you mention it, that does seem strange.  Maybe the hair dresser was being vindictive?  LOL  I gotta say, there were times when I was in medical billing that I was sure someone was going to "lose" a file because I was irritating them.(insurance companies most of the time)
