My hair is a living nightmare. It`s been dry and `clumpy` for as long as I can remember (I enclose a webcam pic to try and illustrate). I can`t get my hair controllable. When I wash it, it sticks together in a big sheet, and if
I don`t have any conditioner to hand, I can forget about brushing it. (When I went swimming lately, my friend was aghast at the state of my hair, she`d never seen anything like it. People were coming over to me in the shower to give me various shampoos and conditioners, it was as if I was a freak of nature or something!) Most people I know seem to just stick their hair under the water, it goes straight, they whack the shampoo on, and they can leave, it`s just not the case with me. I`ve spent hundreds of pounds on various products, and although some provide temporary relief, a few weeks later my
hair will be at it again. Last time I went to the hairdressers for a simple trim (wet cut), my hairdresser could not do it and I had to pay for the whole shampoo and condition. Apparently my hair absorbs a lot of water too.

It is also extremely difficult to style. I`ve worn it the same for the past 6 or 7 years, and I`m bored of it, but I don`t dare to get anything new done to it for sake of it going even more uncontrollable.

Please, do you have any advice for an 18 year old girl with nightmare hair?! Even when I brush it half of it is ripped out!

Thanks all,

Gemziz

Gemziz,
I think it would be good to have a crop cut. About 1 inch (or 2.5cm) on top, and about 1/2 inch on the sides and back. This is a very trendy updated look and would solve a lot of your problems. If this isn`t an option, try Redken Anti-snap leave in conditioner and see what that will do for you. Good luck and keep us posted.

Wow, your hair looks pretty straight. I think the idea of a crop cut is a good one. They are very pretty on lots of women and think of how easy it would be. If not that short, something with lots of short layers would probably help you maintain some control. Hair can really make or break the quality of life so good luck. Try a different hairdresser too. I have never heard of anyone being unable to cut someone`s hair.
