QuoteReplyTopic: Tease extensions hopelessly tangled. Please help! Posted: March 13 2008 at 9:39pm
Hi everyone! I am a newbie to this forum. I think you guys are great. Your shared knowledge is really appreciated.
I purchaed Tease extensions (18/22 & 27/613) after reading about them here. Below is a copy of an email I sent that explains my problems.
I feel like I have tried everything but I know you guys know more than I do. Any help would be very much appreciated.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I received my extensions and needed supplies very quickly. My items were packaged well and looked beautiful. The wefts were less than 4 oz but I was so happy with the look of the hair that it didn't bother me to purchase another pack to make up the difference.
The hair looked beautiful. Extensions are part of my costume. In addition to my normal job, I volunteer for children's organizations. I perform the part of Barbie, Cinderalla and various other princesses. I will do almost any character a child wishes to meet. I work with organizations that benefit little girls who have terminal and life altering illnesses. It is very important that I look the part. These little girls want to feel my hair, touch my skin, look over every detail and know that I am really the character they idolize. The day after the extensions were put in I was scheduled for a "Barbie" visit. My hair looked amazing and pulled the look together. It was a very touching visit.
I received so many compliments. It looked great wavy or curled and the curl held well. I had no problems until I washed it (with the recommended Pureology products). It instantly became a gnarled, matted, hopelessly tangled ball of hair. It feels like horse hair (very embarassing). I have used many different extension methods and brands of hair over the years and have not had problems like this in a very long time. I am not an extension newbie. I know how to care for extensions and treat them with utmost care. I have spent almost as much money on detangling/smoothing products as I spent to purchase the hair. I expected nothing but the best after reading about tease extensions on extensions forums and watching the youtube video. I am nearly in tears. I don't know what to do. Please help.
Sincere thanks, Deanna

I think Tease hair has had some mixed reviews over the past... it might just be that this hair doesn't work for you... for now one of the best solutions to ratty hair -horse hair?!- is silicone serum like John Frieda one, on both wet and dry hair, and a great straightening iron, even if you like to use a curling iron afterwards.
It's only a temporary fix though, you might have to take this hair out...

As Malibu said, whole foods might be more practical for you. If the hair is as bad as you say, you need to take it out though. A coconut oil treatment is going to help temporarily but not fix the problem.
It is a good idea to contact Kristin too. Good luck!
I'm sorry to hear about your hair dilemma. I would recommend that you buy some Moroccanoil. It's a leave in treatment that I learned about when I was at a hairshow. It is miracle stuff. It will take crap hair and make it much more manageable. It's pricey, but worth it.
I carry in in my salon now and sell it to all my extension clients. They all have been delighted with it. I use it myself on my extensions as well.
I put it in my hair after I get out of the shower before I start to take a pick and detangle.
I am working on setting up a site to sell it, but for now you can do a google search and find some sellers.
I urge you to get some. I am not affliated in anyway with the company, I'm just thrilled to find a product that is so beneficial to processed hair like extension hair.
Hey MissD...I'm really sorry to hear about your terrible experience so far. I wanted to say first, that's it's a great thing you do for the kids! They must just love you. Good for you.
I use the 'Cowboy Magic' on any hair that I find tangles badly. Got it off Ebay. It is pure silicone and works pretty much like John Frieda and many other serums, just more potent.
Malibu is right about Kristin and her customer service. I think she will try to do right by you for sure. Hopefully.
I missed what method you used to install? Individuals or wefts? I wonder if it shed so badly that the hair got trapped in the first wash? Just trying to find the problem....that just sucks. I'm wearing Dlux now and it pretty darn good, but does shed a lot!
I really hope everything gets resolved for you.
Love clip-ins and tape!

I had no idea that the coconut oil was same used for cooking. It makes cakes and brownies so moist and soft. I put some on the ends to hopefully stop some of the breakage. I have a sudden urge to bake some brownies :) I am afraid that if I wash it again I will have to take it out.
I use my Chi flat iron and it does help until I move around then it becomes one big clump again. I will be ordering some Morrocanoil with express shipping.
I have yet to get a reply from YHS. I have sent three emails. Two were sent to email addresses from which we had recently corresponded and were bounced back to me "undeliverable". The last one seems to have gone through but I am not sure. If anyone has an alternative method of communications I would really appreciate it.
I have wefts installed with LG. I love the volume and the ease of installation. I've had GL, Cinderella, Eurolinks, etc. in the past but the expense and travel required for installation and upkeep strains my limited resources (my volunteer efforts are self funded). I am a single mom with two kids, a full time job, no family nearby, community and volunteer obligations, a chronic disease to conquer for my sake and all others who battle it (MS), and loads of other responsibilities. I do not mind a little hair maintenance but it cannot turn into a daily battle. I expect to get more than two weeks of wear out of my extensions. I would have never purchased this hair if I had any idea that one washing would render it useless.
Off to search for "Cowboy Magic" and seach the cupboard for brownie ingredients....
Warmly,
Deanna

Good Luck Deanna. I had my extensions done by metalgirl and love the Morracan Oil. I have no idea what Cowboy Magic is but now I want some brownies too! LOL

Both my Mom and I have worn the Tease extensions. Hers lasted about 2 months and were blonde. I just installed mine a week ago and they are brown. I'm bummed to hear you are having trouble. I wonder how long it will take mine to follow down that path of no return. I would recommend the silicone treatments and/or the coconut oil...let us know how it works out!!

MissDeanna, I wouldn't invest a ton of money in fixing this hair.
It would behoove you to put your money towards hair that will last. For now, I would keep emailing Kristin and see what she can do for you. Perhaps she will replace it with a better batch.

I have come to the sad conclusion that here is just no saving this hair. I tried everything. I just ended up with heavy, oily looking tangled hair.
The shedding is horrible. I have no need for GPS. I can be found by following the trail of blonde hair.
I really wish I would have gotten a response from YHS. I am very disappointed. Maybe I will get a response yet. I am getting less hopeful.
I ended up investing over $500.00 in bad hair and a constellation of products to try to salvage it. My financial resources devoted to volunteering took a big hit with this mistake. I also spent hours and hours that could have been spent with my own children. I wish that suppliers would appreciate the impact that bad hair has on our lives.
This brings me to a dilemma. I need to take this hair out and I have a Barbie visit tentatively scheduled for Wednesday early evening. Where can I get quality hair at the best price very quickly? Since I wasted my money on Tease extensions my budget is tight.
Should I try synthetic? I have heard they feel horrible but I might be able to deal with it as long as they would hold curl, look decent and not tangle too badly.
I so do not know what to do. I need the guidance of an extension guru. Any advice would be so appreciated!

You know...anyone else would probably laugh at that last statement, but I think we here, can ALL relate and nod our heads!!!
So sorry to hear this hair can't be saved. I would also say that Bohyme would be a safe bet, although it may be a bit pricey at this time for you. Also, I hear UniqueWiiv (cheaper Bohyme option) which is NOT Remy hair, is supposed to be pretty good for short term installs. I'll be you that just about any non-Remy hair would do better than the Tease hair that you had in. Hopefully Kristin will still respond to you. The only thing with synthetic (I find) is the shine! It might work for a Barbie costume though! haha. WaWa is not too bad.

I am guessing in all your hours devoted to this you never saw the phone number for Kristin's new salon on the website. I am sure thats why she hasn't responded, as I think it just opened. She is a great retailer - give the salon a call and talk to them. I just phoned them to see if they had something in stock that didnt show on the site and they were super nice. It's called Tease Salon in Costa Mesa

No, I didn't see a phone number listed under the "contact us" link. There is an email addy for appointments: appointments@teaseextensions.com. Unless the website has changed there were no phone numbers listed.
Thank you for being so kind and helpful. I appreciate your loyalty. Every good business should have customers like you. I have also praised the positive aspects of my experience. I did, however, receive hair that is not suitable for use. I also stated that I have not received a reply to multiple emails. Just the facts. I am aware that problems do occur and people make mistakes. I know that many people have had wonderful experiences with YHS. That is why I chose YHS to purchase hair for such an important occasion.
If you would be willing to pass along the contact information or share the link to where it can be found that would be fantastic.
Thanks again

I found a phone number after doing a couple of searches on the net. It was not easy to find. She was extraordinarily nice. They are sending me out D-Lux extensions to replace the Tease extensions. I really hope these work out.
Thanks again for all the advice. You girls are the best!
