Thats strange...My holly light yaki holds curls wonderfully both with the iron and when rod set...but I have a different type of hair than both of you, I have burmese hair...maybe thats why mine works. But when setting, I wash/condition hair, then add lottabody wait about 10 mins or so, so the hair gets kinda tacky (can't think of a better word lol) and then rod it. I notice that when it's "tacky" it has more of a texture making it easier to mold...maybe you should try it! Oh, and I don't dilute my lotta body either since the hair is already wet. I just pour some in a spary bottle and evenly mist the hair all over! Good luck!

if you use too much product that might be a problem that would hinder the curling.. but thanks for the video i'll add it to the newbie thread..

I have a holly light yaki and it has been a little difficult to curl.  The best curl that I get from it would be after washing, fully wet, roller set  and allowing it to dry for about 2 days or so.  I can then get curls to last a few days or so. HTH~

Make sure to cut the hair.  A good cut helps hair hold a curl better. This is true with my natural hair as well.

I have not cut the unit yet.  I will try a smaller roller or rod.

Thanks ladies.

I have a Holly yaki straight and it holds the curls great.  I used the gray flexirods with a little bit of Motions lotion and did a damp set, letting it dry overnight.

I just got 2 units from Holly. An IR medium yaki and a CR light yaki. I haven't cut them or applied them yet so I don't know yet how well they will hold curls.

Have you cut your unit into a style yet? If not the hair is a lot less likely to hold curls.

Has anyone had trouble curling IR lite yaki lf from holly.  I did a roller set with setting lotion and let is air dry with the fan blowing and the curls didn't last at all, by the end of the day they had fallen.  I used a 11/2 inch size roller and my unit is 18+ inches long.  I'm just wondering if it's the hair?
