I would like to wear some daring hairstyles/colors (I`m too chicken to cut my hair), so I`ve been looking at some wigs at www.wigs.com. Do wigs really stay in place all day, if you wear them to work, to a club, etc? It takes me an hour to fix my hair, I like the idea of popping a wig on and being ready to go in minutes. I really like a certain wig at http://www.wigs.com/catalogbrands.html under Long wigs--Chelsea. It`s the shade of red that I like, but when I color my hair, it always fades to a dull color too quickly! so maybe a wig is the answer? Are they worth paying $100 dollars for? I would be afraid that the wind would blow it off of my head in public....
Does anyone have experience with wigs? Also, my hair is so long and thick, how would I put it up under a wig?

Hi Kate, I have worn wigs off and on (sorry about the pun) for years. I had real long hair (almost to my waist!) and cut it off. Boy did I regret that. I bought a long wig and it seemed to help. I think they are fun to try new looks. I also like to wear different styles when I go to club or to a dressy party etc. I find you can try a real daring look or color etc. without making a permanent change. I have found a wig cap and a lot of bobby pins will keep a wig on. I would never buy a wig on the internet or via mail order, as a wig should be trimmed to fit your face after you buy it. Any reputable wig shop will do that as part of the cost. Also, I have found that when I buy a wig, it is best if I try a few styles/colors on so I can see how they look with my face, body, shape, and coloring.
Good luck, I think wigs are fun. I hope you find the right one.

I`m glad someone out there could give me some advice on this one! I`m actually thinking of purchasing a (new not used) wig on Ebay. It`s new, and it`s only $70, other internet sites want $125 for the same wig. I don`t really have the time to go wig shopping. I have a 7 month old. I hate going anywhere with her. Too much trouble. Weekends are devoted to college work. So if I ever shop, it`s online! I`ve been happy so far.
I didn`t know that you were supposed to (or even that you could) trim a wig! That`s a great tip! Thanks for the response.
