Try the Proflex No Shine tape. Also cut the tape into 3 horizontal pieces so that is is smaller and that will help. The Proflex No Shine, although it says it doesn't have a shine, it still does a little, but it is not as noticeable. Just dab you finger on the edge where it is applied and the usually takes care of it.
I use supertape and it has a definite shine. I just dab some foundation powder on it with a q-tip(after I have crumbled the powder a bit... while it is still in the foundation case). The foundation is the same one I use on my face. It blends good and looks even better on the next day (don't know why though). It is a quick fix and I prefer it because the tape holds so so well.
Hope that helps~

I am so sorry, but you had me ROTFL because you are so expressive and funny! From your writing and description of your reaction, I could just picture your disgust when you discovered the shine.
Thanks for the laugh

I just ordered some supertape. Which side is the "shiny" side? I bought the roll not the strips.

i never put the tape at the front of my hairline, i only use adhesive there.. i restrict my use of the tape at the nape and maybe at the corner of the sides by the ears..other than that i'm strickly adhesive so i don't see any tape shining thru..
I bought some toupee tape by Vapon at Sally's and it didn't want to stick at all. I have Proflex no shine an it slides after placement. I like tape but can't get it to work.

On the strips it's the side with the printed words SuperTape that's the matte side....but on the roll I can't tell.
