Hi Girls,

Im in need of some serious help. Im new to the extention world. I just recently had my hair done with Donna Bella extentions, My hair Looks great!! and the quality is great. It was quite pricey but i did not want to skimp on something that was on my head for everyone to see. My hairdresser used the beads and attached 160 strands to my head. The problem is its only been three weeks and i have been losing strands and along with the strands my own hair has been coming out by the rootsConfused I have lost 32 so far. My hair dresser does not seem to think this is a big deal. and it may not be Im just afraid this hair that has came out by the roots will never grow back. I dont have that much hair of my own. The strands that she attached seem to not be holding very well and they seem to be hanging on by only a few strands of my own hair.  I dont know if this is normal, any advice would be greatly appreciated!Hugplease

chicknoodle I posted a reply to you in the other thread but I will say it here too.

No it defintely isnt normal to loose this many strands in 3 weeks. IMO it sounds like they werent installed correctly.

If there are only a few strands of your own hair attached then they are probably sliding out. And that isnt anything to get too worried over. But if you are seriously having chunks of hair come out by the root then definitely be concerned.

Hi Sherrie,
there are probably 11-20 strands of my own hair that are coming out by the root with each individual strand of bella hair. Some seem like they are barely holding on and may just pull out at any time most of those are on the side of my head the back seems to be a little more solid. I went in a week after she had done my hair and she put back in 10 strands and i told her my concern she said this was normal and that i was taking good care of my extentions. I dont want to offend her but i also do not want to lose anymore hair she charged my over 1200 for the service. and does not seem concerned im not quite sure what to do i have an appointment for wed but i am soo nervous about losing more hair i might just call tomorrow and try to talk with her. I sure hope she tries to fix it, my gut feeling is she will insist its not a big deal because she does not want to be bothered with redoing anything. thank you again for your advice if she does not want to make it right should i just try to find someone in my area that is an expert on extentions to fix it? Thanks so much!!! I really appreciate your knowledgeHugWink

What it sounds like to me is that she didnt use enough natural hair to attach the extension strand to. But without actually seeing it, I am making an assumption. Can you post a picture of a couple of the strands that have came out?

Losing the first 10 might have seemed normal to me. It is common in the first week or so for a few to fall out. (The runts in the bunch so to speak). But even 10 seems like a few more than normal. But the fact that it has continued and you have now lost 32 in 3 weeks doesnt seem right to me. And that there is that many strands of your own hair attached also doesnt seem normal.

If it was the bead/ring not closed tight enough etc, and they were sliding out, there wouldnt be so many of your own hairs attached to it. Maybe a couple of stands, but not 11-20 strands of your own hair.

It could be a few differnt things, but without seeing it its hard to say, but definitely a problem that needs to be fixed.

I wouldnt worry about offending her, she should be concerned if your hair is coming out with the strands that are falling out. And if she isnt concerned about it, then I would say definitely find someone else.

HI....sounds like the beads were too heavy for your hair. I am not sure if you want to go back and have her do it. Unfortunately you might want to chalk it up to experience. If she does microlinks or some other methods like shrink links which would be lighter on your hair (less weight) or smaller beads that might help. In any event....i wouldn't go back and have her put them back or more in if you are loosing lots of hair by the roots. I have a friend who is a hair dresser and does links and fusion and she had a client who came in with the strands in her hands with chunks of hair. She removed all the extensions, gave her a partial refund and told her she was not a good candidate for extensions.

Good luck

Hi Girls
Just wanted to give you all an update on my hair thing, you guys were so gracious to give me any info or experience you had. I went to the hairdresser today showed her the hair and she said they are slipping out but its normal to lose some? I said i was really nervous about it but she said you lose at least 100 hairs a day and that is the reason a few are falling out somtimes. she put them back in BUT used more of my own hair when she did it so i think that may have been an issue. I probably will not have her do them again and NEXT time really research more. Any advice on the best and safest way to do hair extentions? and best brand?Geek

Sorry to hear about your hair problem.  It is true, some people's hair is just not 'anchored in' to the root well enough to support any type of extension.

If I were you, I'd give wefts with tape a try or there's always clip in wefts.  I do both of the above methods on myself since my genetically wimpy hair can't withstand strands anymore.
Good luck!
