She's featured in an article in the Life section of today's USA Today (which I found at my hotel room door). It's styled differently in the USA Today pic, looks a bit shorter, almost a pixie. She says in the article that she got it cut in September and she goes to a different stylist each time, and each time it gets a bit shorter (which I'm fairly sure is what's supposed to happen when you get a haircut). She didn't comment on whether she likes it, but judging by the fact that she's not growing it out, I'd say so.
I like it too. Always sad to see long waves and curls disappear, but this is a cute alternative. If you miss it long, go see her new movie, My Blueberry Nights (also featuring Natalie Portman with very short layered blonde hair!).
Your hair is your best accessory; wear it with STYLE!

I'm so... not even mildly impressed. I do not agree, Curlyfan, that this is a "cute alternative"; rather, I think Norah's face is cute despite the distraction of this messy pixie. Her long, wavy locks were sensational. This look says that she places no importance on hair. Blah! Best, Bob
I think she's pretty and I love her voice but I liked the long hair on her better.

I never noticed how awkward and large her nose was until I saw this haircut. If a persons face is flawless, they can pull of short hair. Norah Jones is not that kind of person. Downgrade!

And what importance should she put on her hair?

I wouldn't say she places no importance on her hair, rather she does not want to be defined by her hair. With long hair, she did look pretty, but you notice the hair first. With the short cut, to me, she looks more interesting. I notice the woman first, not the hair.
The difference between Bob's post and my post is that Bob's post may or may not have included a "nasty little dig" while mine was obviously an attempt at humor, prompted, I might add, by your shot at Bob.
Who has more fun than people?

Honestly, Hal, no woman should feel the *requirement* to put *any* importance on her hair. It's up to each person. But, I'm thankful for the ones who do, and I find them tres appealing, or tress appealing, if you haven't noticed.
About noticing the woman first, hmmm... The woman is her personality, and you can't know that from a glance. Physically, I always notice hair first, I don't know why, but to me, any woman with gorgeous hair is hot!!! Bob

I find with NJ it's the face that strikes me first whatever her hair is like. She's got that intense stare and vaguely grinning red lips. As for hair, I'm sure she can pull off long or short--but this ain't a very impressive short style. The sideswept bangs look OK, but the rest of it is woeful with the basic cut itself seeming uneven (see those wispy bits sticking out at the sides?)

Bob, I would venture to say length has zero to do with importance of hair to a woman. In fact, I tend to think women with shorter hair, care much more how their hair looks. I think the longer the hair, the more days it spends in a pony tail. Thus, to me, indicating the importance of how her hair looks!

Hal, you may be surprised, but I agree with your fine point. *Of course*, many short-haired ladies spend eons of time on their hair, often much more time than their bountifully-tressed sisters. In Nora's example, though, it surely doesn't seem that any effort was given. That's cool with me. I don't have to like it. (lol) Alanis M. and Justine Bateman often appeared allergic to combs as long-hairs as well, it's true.
Fat, I do agree that Nora has a wonderful face. Best, Bob
