O.K. I usually speak French, but I`ll try to answer as I can.
I don`t use a specific clarifier. I try don`t using too much products with silicon. But , occasionnally , I mix 1 teaspoon of baking soda with 1 teaspoon of shampoo to remove possible build up. I never use gel, spray , color, etc.
Now , thank you for comments about my icon. There is the site where I found it :
On this site, you click on profile ( yours) and CHANGE ICON, then on UPLOAD A CUSTOM ICON then on PARCOURIR . You go and take the image of your choice on your PC and replace the existing icon by the new one. Voilà ! Bye !
Maybe , I'll make mistakes in my sentences, I usually speak French. But this site is great and I love it !
All Soft Redken smells very good and with it , the hair is more soft and manageable. But, it contains silicone that keeps the moisture out and builds up. With time , hair become more dry, finally, because water cannot penetrate the cortex. It's the bad side of silicone. That's why , it's necessary to claarify hair time to time. Bye !
i also like ou new icon .which clarifyer do you use? i read to try buttermilk. it's suppose to remove buld up plus make hair shiny. shampoo your hair them pour buttermilk. let it sit for a min. then rinse. apply conditioner. that's what i read anyway. or try burtsbee baby shampoo. it has buttermilk. i thought i would share. i did pick up the burtsbee baby shampoo just yesterday though.

Mmm that's true, Kisawa. Oil could be building up some. Sounds like good advice to me. I usually use a 2nd brand of shampoo at least once a week to prevent buildup.
Welcome to the board too! My friend just spent a year in Belgium and she loved it there. I think she'd go back in a heartbeat.

well, I used to have dry looking hair when I used oil everyday on my hair!! Sswitch to another shampoo to clarify the build up you may have on your hair and then give it a good conditioner..... I'm sure it's going to improve its look!! Cheer up girl
Hey Super grover! I will try to get a picture posted. Probably what's making me unhappy with my hair is the frizzy look on the lower third. I wish it were smoother, shinier- looking, without blowdrying it that way. I might be trying to fight my inherited genes too much.
I hate to say this, but maybe you should consider cutting the lower third off? I dunno how long it is to begin with... The way I see it, damaged hair is not attractive, and it isn't doing you any good, so cut it off and grow out healthy hair.
And also, your hair would be healthier if you didn't blow dry it. Is that possible? Maybe your hair is stronger than mine, but blowdrying my hair totally fries it.
Don't mean to be bossy, just giving my opinion. :)

Hi Monica! You're probably right...no such thing as perfect hair. By the way I think your hair is beautiful. Looks very healthy. Thanks for the reply! Sheila

hi shelia! i agree with everyone else you might think your hair is worst than it is. when i go get a trim i think she will have to cut a lot because it dooesn't look good is. she doesn't even cut a half inch and people tell me i have beautiful hair. i'm to hard on myself too. i want ''perfect'' hair. is there such a thing?

Hey Uzma! That's an interesting recipe that I would love to try! (I'll try anything once) Thank you!
Hi Princess Monica!
I'll work on getting some pictures posted as soon as I figure out how. Talk to you all in a little bit! Sheila
Hi Gren! I'm confident it's not my diet. You are probably right about maybe trying something new besides the oiling. Also, another thing you are probably right about is the fact that maybe my hair doesn't look as bad as I think. I have been known to be a little hard on myself at times. I can get a picture posted. One thing though...I'm not sure how to go about doing it. Maybe that would help if some of you all saw my hair then you can give me your HONEST opinions. Thanks for the reply.

yuck fish! i don't like fish at all! my family loves it. my grandmpa, my uncles and my dad were all fisherman. what is the difference between fish oil and flaxseed? i take cod liver right now. i'm almost out.
how's your diet? Getting enough protein AND enough essential fatty acids?
Gren
what foods have fatty acids?
fresh oily fish (canning causes some loss of EFA) like herring, mackerel, salmon, tuna, and anchovy. Omega-3 EFA are also found in fish oil, flaxseed oil, canola oil, and walnut oil. Omega-6 oils include corn oil, safflower oil, cottonseed oil, peanut oil, sesame oil, borage oil, grapeseed oil, and primrose oil. Good sources of both omega-3 and omega-6 are Great Northern beans, kidney beans, navy beans, soybeans, and soybean oil.
I eat salmon at least once a week. I take fish oil capsules every day. I cook with as little safflower oil as possible ( usually a teaspoon or less, but every little bit helps). I also eat beans regularly, for all the good things beans do for you .
Some folks swear by flaxseed - I just haven't found a good way to get it into food yet.

This is an Indonesian treatment called "Creme Bath" and it is used in many of the south asian spas.
2 tablespoons of a good skin cream (I use Neal's Yard Frankinscence Nourishing cream) 2 tablespoons of your fave conditioner (I use Citre Shine Moisture Burst) 1 teaspoon pure Shea Butter (or 1 tablespoon BodyShop Nut bodybutter) 3 drops Geranium essential oil
Mix all the ingredients together until they are thoroughly combined. Apply to freshly washed hair. Make sure you coat the hair thoroughly, like icing on a cake. Cover with a thin plastic showercap or plastic wrap. Leave on for at least 2 hours - the longer the better. I leave on for about 6 hours while I do the gardening, housework, cooking, reading...
Hope that helps your hair become so luscious that you fall in love with it :-)
Brunette Beauty! We sound so alike! I have a VERY similar routine. Everything except the monoi oil, which I've been wanting to try. And I've been trying to get trims less frequently than you.
I also think it couldn't be as bad as you say. Can you post a picture? If it feels soft, how could it be dry looking?
I also agree with Gren about the vitamins. I take vitamins and try to get a good amount of protein in my diet. I think it makes a difference, though I've only been taking them for a few months now.

how's your diet? Getting enough protein AND enough essential fatty acids? Nourishing hair from inside and out plays a big part in what it looks like.
Second - do you clarify regularly? Oil isn't for everyone - perhaps some experimentation with other conditioning products OR, letting things go for a while without oil, so you can get further knowledge of what your hair likes and wants.
Hope this helps - and DONT get too upset - keep some perspective. Perhaps your hair doesn't look nearly as bad as YOU think it does - can you post a picture?
