Hi there,

I'm totally new to extensions, but someone turned me on to the plastikhaar.com site and I am in love. (Have been doing my hair wild colors for a long time and am positively sick of semi-permanent dyes, but don't want to give up the bright colors.) I am desperately trying to find someone willing to work with these types of extension in the Orange County, CA area -- can anyone here make a recommendation? I contacted Neko from platikhaar.com, and she says she's shipped product out here, so there must be "someone" around here that can do it! :)

I found someone that specialized in extensions but refused to work in synthetics. Is that common? Should I be worried about putting synthetics in my hair? (The most important thing to me are these colors, and the are just spectacular!) Also, this person had no idea how to do the dreads or braids -- that would be a huge plus. I'm looking for someone very adventurous.

Thanks for the help!

You should try ethnic shops, they work with synthetics all the time.

Great! Thanks for showing me that site -- now I want plastic hair!!!  ::grin::

Seriously -- that is such a cool site and source of info. I might be willing to experiment on someone else and do a DYI, but I'm not sure I know anyone that I'd trust doing it for me. I'd really prefer to go to someone that has done this sort of stuff before, so if anyone can refer me, that would be awesome.

I guess if I get really desperate I'll try to recruit a friend though. Thank you so much for very cool link. :)

Hi racer, I have no idea how close or far you are from her, but I'm sure that Kristin at Tease Salon would do it for you.  Check out her online shop for the contact info:  www.yourhairshop.com

Sounds fun!  Wish I was closer, I'd do them for you in a heartbeat.  :)

B.B. -- thanks! Newport is very close to where I am. Since I hadn't really heard from anybody that had experience with the dreads and stuff, I decided to just open my phone book and make some calls. And I found "just" the right person that has experience with both the synthetics and the dreads, and feels comfortable experimenting with the plastics and laces if I can get a hold of them. I'm going over to meet her today!!

So thanks again to everyone for all the help. And thanks for this other lead -- I'm going to keep it in my back pocket!!

:) Kristin
