Not a lot of people ask that question; it's a good one! Razoring (I believe) does shorten the life of extensions. You are basically causing split ends on the hair by doing so. That's why unless your hair is thick, healthy and straight, it's not a good idea to razor your own natural hair. However, it's the only way to get extensions to fall naturally and not fall in clumps. Of course, by 'shorten,' it could still lasts several months depending on the quality of hair & now that I think of it, synthetic hair would not likely be affected the same way natural hair is. hmmmm......Tongue
Love clip-ins and tape!

You could cut the extensions with texturizing shears or do a point cutting technique on it.  It would help it be 'non clumpy' and yet not cause the split ends.
