QuoteReplyTopic: Is tape glue? Posted: June 05 2008 at 11:59am
So I ordered skin wefts and had them installed with LG 2 weeks ago. The wefts wrapped around my head and caused tension so they were coming lose in areas. I took them out last night and was going to have then re-installed in smaller sections with tape tonight, but I am sick of having glue destroy my hair. I used the C-22 to get the LG out last night and it worked pretty good, but it took me an hour to get the chunks of glue out of my hair. I just want to be done with having glue in my hair, will tape be the same thing?

I find tape to be far easier to remove than glue. I spray the tape with 99% alcohol and allow it to unstick naturally. I VERY gently tug on the pieces of tape spraying more alcohol as needed until it all comes up. There is no residue left on my skin or hair.

I agree with Tea4Two, tape is easier to remove than glue. I use pure professional acetone for removal. I do find that the tape will leave a residue after removal the hair will have a slight stickiness, but it shampoo's out easily for me. Other people find that the tape becomes gooey or very sticky....so I think it depends on ones own body chemistry and the product that you use to remove the tape.
The tape is a form of glue or adhesive. But definitely not as messy as a liquid bonding glue.
Yeah, I agree with the ladies; tape is easier to remove/less messy. I use both LG and tape to install & I find it's the best of both worlds. You can use a little LG to have a more secure hold (mostly on the ends of the tape). I use a mix of different removers --- Goo Gone, acetone, 99% alcohol (with olive oil) and I never feel like I'm damaging my hair, but I go very slowly. Also, with skin wefts (as you are probably figuring out) it's easier to install smaller pieces or they will buckle on you. Say two inch pieces -- sandwiched together for extra security. Love skinwefts!
Love clip-ins and tape!

That is why I had to take the LG out - some pieces were like 8 inches long and were coming aart in places. How long does it hold with just tape vs tape + lg?
