I put a small piece of tape at each temple. I usaully use PF No-Shine or ST. I put 1/2 of the tape on my skin and the other 1/2 on the wig cap.

Pro's:
1. It protects your natural hair and your scalp from being rubbed by the lace and from your knot sealers.
2. It protects your hairline from being pulled by tapes and adhesives.
3. It's not very hot at all.
4. You can part your unit anywhere and it will look like your scalp.

Cons:
1. If you don't tape it down it will usually slide right off your head.

BTW: You can always do 1 of the part tricks to mimic scalp if you don't like wig caps or the coban.

I'm going to go with my Coban headbands. I tried my LF on with one and it disappeared with the SH deep glow spray. I'm also going to dye one with the cocoa brown rit dye and see which one looks the best.  I only wear cornsilk translucent powder so I won't do the makeup/tape thing.
Thanks.

I received my baby in the mail today. I've been reading all the posts on both this site and BHM. I'd be lost without all of you.

My question: what are the pros and cons of using a wig/stocking cap as opposed to just cornrows? I don't want to wear a full wig cap because I'm prone to flashes and I want to be able to shower with my LF on (I want to be an extended wearer). I wanted to wear cornrows with a part down the middle and on each side (for side parts). Then I thought about taking some stocking material and sewing it in between the braids to simulate my scalp. I purchased the Nexcare Coban wrap and made headbands from it, so that's one of my options also. I'd like to know what others are doing.

you can avoid fungus by using teatree oil on your scalp after washing ... what i do is after washing i towel dry then put an olive oil teatree oil mn mixture on my scalp wrap apply my wig cap, clean forehead scalp protect, do my layers of adhesive in about an inch width let dry then pull the wig cap forward half an inch... so it sits in the adhesive ... and stays put...

I just use queen size knee highs and I never have a problem with it slipping or being to hot either.

Also I know it has been stated many times, but I do want to reinterate, when you place the cap on your head while the hair is wet and let the wet cap mix with the gels, if you use them, moussee and setting lotion will get the cap to stick as well.  HTH.

I also use tape to hold down my wig cap and by the wig cap being somewhat thick my tape doesn’t shine through especially after you put the LF on top of it.

i only use one steri strip hair density plays a good part in that... no my tape doesnt show b/c i only leave out a little tiny bit of the tape that show from underneath the cap, and i place the edge of the unit on top of that so it covers it up..

Did the tape show up shiny? Also what kind of tape and adhesive did you use? I notice that most tape that is used shows up shiny.

Another question is for the 3M Steri-Strips, how many of the strips do you use?

My sister applied my first lf this weekend. We used  a wig cap. What we did was put a little of the tape around the perimeter of the wig cap in the front so far no problems for me.
