Metalgirl, since you have experience with So.cap let me ask you...

1) this is a heat activated fusion method ( using keritin bonds, right?)

2) If I bought hair from my trusted source that is pre-tipped with keraitn bonds, wouldn't that be the same thing? or is the so.cap "special" or different?

I know and trust the quality of my supplier, so it is hard for me to trust another source 'cause I have gotten some really bad hair from other salons.

The stylist did say if I got my own hair I could pay her to do the install. But I don't want to screw it up  if my own product will not lay as flat as the so.cap. I was impressed with the small bonds of the so.cap, but I just question if it is as good as what I am used to.

My mother has owned a salon for 20 years and can generally order me any product I need... so I like the thought of saving a bit and ordering through her.

3)  I was planning on ordering 250 bonds. I think that is more than enough for a full head ... am I wrong ? Should I play it safe and get 300 to have on hand? I don't mind having extra.

4) finally, you work in the extension business, would you be offended if a client wanted to bring in her own hair and have you do the install?

Thanks :)

A trick for getting extension hair not to matt as easily while working out or swimming is to put the hair in braids. Not ponytails, but BRAIDS. Either one braid, or one on each side.
I'm with you, I would also trust Metals advice!

In general, I don't think the sweat  from a workout will effect the So cap bonds.  Just be sure when you're done working out to wash and condition the hair.

Thanks so much Metalgirl. I have seen your posts on the forum for years and it was actually an old post by you that helped me to install my clip-ins in sucha  good manner, that they became my preferred way to have extensions. No one ever knew I wore them .So, I really trust what you say. The stylist told me she likes to reuse the hair and raved abotu the quality. She has been doing extensions for about 20 years and I am really impressed with her.

Now... one more question for you. I am concerned because  I workout a lot. I am a yoga and fitness instructor and sweat buckets. I live in hot hot hot Florida and ride bikes outside ont eh weekend and wear a helmet.  I always had the ease of removing my clipins before a workout and the hair has lasted for years.  I know there will be more wear and tear on a permanent extension that I cannot take out.
What ar eyotu thoughts on this. Would you recommend this for someone who is going to sweat a lot? ( My hair would be clipped back or tied up fopr exercise)

I am certified by So Cap USA (there are a few So Cap's out there- So Cap USA, Original So Cap, and Euro SoCap- the family that started So Cap broke the company up and took it different directions)

After using So Cap for a  year now, it's becoming my favorite strand by strand method.   The bond is great, is sheds only a little if any at all, and yet when it's time to take them out, they come out of the hair easily with the gel remover.

$1500 is a standard quote for a full head.

You might want to ask about reusing the hair.  So Cap USA sells rebond chips that I can use to rebond the hair a second time.  Many stylists don't tell you that, since it's slightly more work on our part to prepare the hair to use again.  When I rebond the same hair, of course the price is less, since you aren't buying new hair.

I think you will probably be happy with So Cap.

I just chopped off 14 inches of hair and am miserable. I have a bob and my clip ins just are a pain to use. I have to use too many.

I had a consult with a lady who does so.cap and it looks great. I saw an actual client and a vast protfolio.

I was quoted $1500 for the full head.

I have done other fusion methods before, but in the last few years wore justa few clip in tracks for volume.

Any thoughts/ experience /adviced about so.cap?

I am nervous because I work out a lot everyday and sweat like a dog.
But the stylist ( and the client in her chair who had them for 2 years) said it should not be a problem.

please post... I want to know before I plunk out $1500
