from mousy to orange to red

      anyway, i read online to use 9AA arctic blonde base blue clairol color with 10Vol for 15 mins. to correct the orange ... i then had light yellow-orange ... i did it again but for 20-25 mins ... no change ... then i started doing strand tests of different things: the arctic blonde with 10 vol., left on for 45 mins (made no change); the arctic blonde with 20 vol., left on for both 30 and 45 mins (made no change); clairol second nature no lift corrective color in level 7 med ash blonde (base violet) with both 10 vol and 20 vol for 30 mins and 45 mins; protein color filler primer corrector refresher #3 platinum for 45 mins .... (luckily i did the strand tests with foil instead of cutting out the strands, or i'd have no hair left lol)

     since the no-lift violet with 10 vol at least did SOMETHING and i was so frustrated, i did it over all the roots just to get rid of the orange -- hoping i could add some highlites later to blend it in .... but now i've got a darker reddish look ... it's better than the orange, but still nowhere near what i want ... 

     i just want to make the roots close to my natural dark ash blonde and add some creamy white highlights to match

 the rest of my hair .... any help would be so appreciated!!!  

 

I am not sure why the Second Nature did not work for you. It's a pretty good color corrector. ( that's what I used on mine but with 20 volume for 45 min ). I would think your hair would grab the color.  Unfortunately, I think using the Arctic Blonde over and over with different volumes of peroxide was a mistake. What happened was the hair did not lift anymore, it was just piling up and depositing a bit more, and that's why you didn 't see any big changes. I made this mistake once too....

 

This is a hard one. I know you probably want to minimize damage. The easiest way to have corrected it was to go out and buy some more highlighting bleach and continue to lighten the roots past the orange/red stage from the beginning. But this is easier said than done ! I know I was sick of the lightening and just wanted to cover my mistakes :-)  

 

I also had some reddish tone left on my roots, too. I decided to just get a no-lift semi permanent color and concentrate it on my roots ( like Clairol's Beautiful collection in Champage ) to tone it down a little, since it contains no harsh chemicals.  I figured I could live with it.  it DID make the roots blend more and made the red less noticable.

 

I have to use it a couple of times a week.  I would love to hear from the experts on this one too. Perhaps a color remover on the roots ? And then reapply bleach ? Sounds a little harsh to me. The good news is red fades pretty fast. After a couple of shampoos the red toned down a lot in MY hair. I would wait at least a few days before deciding on anything major....and to give your hair a rest. Any experts want to tackle this one ??  :-)  

 

 

 

 

 

Since it's a strong color depositer, it should make some difference. The only caution I advise is be careful not to use too much...it's very strong and my hair grabbed the color.  Also, try mixing it with conditioner to dilute it.

 

Start off with just a little, then move up. And don't worry if it's too strong, it does wash out... ( I assume you are referring to the semi-perm one ? )...Good luck  !!
