Hi! This happens to me as well, however, i use the Artec Kiwi product line they have a color shampoo (its STRONG) that you shampoo your hair with. I`d recommend shampooing your hair first (preferrably with an artec shampoo like smoothing shampoo) then use the hair shampoo with the red.. they have a few different red colors.. i prefer their red clover shampoos..
they say dont leave it in for a while but i usually leave it in for about a minute or so before rinsing... you`ll notice a nice difference.. not like a difference like redying your hair, but it`s definitely good....
their products are expensive so be prepared to shell out 10 bucks for their 8 oz bottle.
i like buying my stuff in 32 oz from them (but it`s hard to find places that sell them in that large quantity)....price is cheaper that way.
Hi Skiwitch! I love red hair!! I just went back to red myself from blonde. Red dyes fade the fastest. The color molecules are larger and slip out of the hair easier. You should use a low volume to refresh the color. Use a five volume with your chosen tint, they do not sell it so you have to make it. Buy some 10 volume and dilute it in half with distilled water. I say distilled water because tap water may have some minerals in it that could affect the color. You may already be doing the following but I will list them anyway......Use a for color treated hair shampoo and conditioner.....also try to find a color depositing shampoo or conditioner that matches your color(you can mix colors).Don`t use hot water on the hair. Try to go as cool as you can. A cold water rinse is a good idea too. Do not wash your hair emediately after dying it. Wait as long as you possibly can before that first wash. You can rinse it just don`t wash it. It needs time to settle in. When you do get around to washing it, there will be some red running the first and second time you wash but it should stop. It is just dye residue probably on your scalp. You can also try product like L`oreal Castings a demi or Clairol Beautiful Collection a semi(at Sallys) to refresh if you can find one that matches. I just dyed my dark brown hair Intense Red using Loreal HiColor for dark hair. I loved the results but the dye is quickly fading. I`ve been dying my hair and the hair of others for years and have never had this problem. I completely rinsed the color from my hair during the initial dye process, then it started to run about a day later.
Can anyone give me an idea as to why? Or how to prevent this next time? I am planning on re-dying this weekend.
