Hi!   Just a quick question:

When sewing on machine wefts, should they sew through the top of the weft or loop around it?
(Lately i've been getting massive amounts of shedding & am wondering if this isnt the reason why)

Thanks !Smile

They should be looping around it. Sewing through it could be the cause of more shedding than normal. But then again, it could just be a poorlly constructed weft.

I don't think sewing through the weft would lead to excessive shedding.  If you are wearing a machine weft, I would recommend that you use the weft sealer that Sherrie sells.

When I sew on machine wefts I usually do sew through the wefts, and shedding has not been a big problem.

So w/Sherrie's weft sealer, should i put that on the entire top, or just wear it's cut?

thanks Smile

Actually MetalGirl, what I meant to ask is this:

If i paint on the weft sealer on the top, wont it dry so thickly that it'll be impossible for her to sew through it ?

Thanks ! Wink

The weft sealer is very thin and will penetrate/soak into the track. It doesnt 'sit' on top or make it thick. You would brush on a thin coat of the sealer along the track. The sealer will help with normal shedding and may even slow down shedding from a poorly constructed weft. But if its a poorly constructed weft, even a weft sealer may not completely stop the shedding.

I would say to get Aleens Fray Check or Dritz Stop Fraying. Anytime when you are installing a weave you should seal the wefts. It prevents the hair from shedding!
