Always test strands too. If you could clip a bit or test one in foil hidden away to determine the effects, timing, color and mainly the condition of your hair afterwards.  Reviews have said also that the type they get at Sally's is superior to the type in the grocery (I have no idea on that) but just passing it along. If you feel your hair is very delicate you may want to see how a few professionals feel about your hair during a free consultation.  It is always best to be safe as possible.

Thanks! I hate ammonia products because my hair is very fine and damages easily. I just read some reviews on L'Oreal Excellence Cremelights and they are all very positive. Most people say they had no damage and very nice color after using it.

L'Oreal Excellence Cremelights Highlighting Creme is A lightener without ammonia for highlights.

My hairdresser once told me to use 20 volume cream peroxide and paint strands of my dark blonde hair in order to highlight it. She said to leave it in for at least 40 minutes or so, then wash it out.  She said it would be very gentle on my fine hair.

Why do I then read so often how damaging it is to lighten hair with peroxide?  Afterall isn't it worse to mix peroxide with permanent color which contains ammonia?  I am very confused, please help!  Thanks. Julia.
