Hey, first post. So I've been wearing euronext clip ins for a couple months, but I've been thinking I want something more permanent. A guy at a salon told me he'd do a weave for me, and that it would be $175 for two tracks, if I brought the hair. I was wondering, is that a good price? And, I'm thinking I'll need 4 tracks, I have hair that barely reaches my shoulders and is very thin, and that's how many I usually do with the clip ins. Also, I've heard the hair at Sally's isn't too good, but I'm worried about ordering them online and having to deal with getting a color that doesn't match. I don't want to spend too much considering how much I'll be paying just for him to sew the hair in..any suggestions? I'm Caucasian with straight dark brown hair. Sorry if this is a lot for one post, I'm just confused and I don't want to spend too much $$ on this. Thanks in advance :)

Well, I don't think $170 is that bad. Call around and ask, though.

Two tracks may work for your hair.

If I were you, I'd go to a consultation first. And make sure you know what you need.

You can probably find some cheap hair online.

I.E. ebay

Hello,

I have worn weaves on and off for years as well as do them for my clients.  For two tracks I personally think that $175 is pricey, if you are expected to purchase the hair in addition to the $175 price.  I charge $50 per track when I do weaves, and then the cost of the Bohyme hair.

As far as the amount of tracks, I think that each track should have the weight of about 1.5-2 ounces per track.  I am more in favor of only putting 1.5 ounces of hair on each track, since  I want to make sure I'm not adding too much tension for the client's natural hair.

So how many tracks depends on if the stylist doubles the weft per each track (as I do and many others do too).    If you have doubled machine wefts in 18" length, you can usually get 2-3 tracks out of a 4 ounce package.

From what you describe, it sounds like 4 ounces would be a good look for you, not too thick but not too thin.   The amount of hair is really a matter of personal taste though.   I love a lot of hair on myself, so I always wear a full 8 ounces of 22" hair.

As for where to get hair, I'd stick with a strong brand like Bohyme, that is known for it's durability.  If you buy cheap hair  it will most likely mat up within a few weeks, and you will not be happy.

I buy Bohyme at www.superhairfactory.com

Good luck to you !

There is  no way I would pay $170 for 2 tracks!!! You can get a full weave for $125! Where do you live?

I might have been mistaken. My mom found out the price and now she's telling me that's the price for more than two, but she doesn't remember how many. I'll have to talk to the guy myself. I live in NYC, but im getting it done upstate where my parents live
