Hey everyone, just need to ask one question.
I know that dying the hair lighter/bleaching can be very damaging to the hair in the way that it strips it..
But, would using a black hairdye on my dark dark brown hair do damage?
I have done this before, and the conditioners of the product seem to make the condition beautiful, but is there any undetected damage that comes with it?

I am dying my already dark hair to black using L'Oreal Paris Feria colour 3d (in 'blackest black') mainly so that as my hair grows, it will act as a marker, so i can see the actual growth.

So yeah, does it change anything in the hair?
Trying to grow out layers for a more matched, and uniformed style :D

I think all dyes are damaging in a way since they use chemicals...just dark shades not a much/on the same level as using bleach. Whenever I dye my hair, I just make sure I keep my hair moisturized b/c the dyes can be very drying on your hair.

Using darker shades, ie medium/dark brown and blacks can actually help you get the condition of your hair back. Remembering of course when you need do a root touch up, only apply the colour to the root area, and pull the remainder of the colour through the mid lengths and ends 10 mins at the end of development, just to refresh this area.

As mentioned by Princess all colouring treatments damage hair, but going darker is less damaging. Can I also just point out, lol make sure your 100% sure you want to go with black, as its the hardest colour to get back out of the hair, especially if in future your looking for hi lights, just a thought, lol.

I agree with karen S. Going darker can make your hair shinier and help the condition. So long as you arent over doing it and  over lapping the color alot then you should not have damage.

Thanks for your help everyone Smile
Well, I dyed my hair last night.  I'm very pleased with it, the condition is wonderful, probably helped by my recent uses of amla oil <3
I'll keep in mind about root touch-ups for the future, but I won't be touching it up for a long time, because as i said, I want to see and judge my new hair growth.
So yeah, I'm very pleased :)
