QuoteReplyTopic: Braids to Waves help.. Posted: December 18 2008 at 6:21pm
Whats good? Ok, I have been doing the braids thing for a while(a loonng time-long hair use to not care lol) and now I am going to chop it off so I have a few quick questions.
1. I know most people before they completely chop it off, cut it in a lower fro to make sure there is no mushyhead or lines but after that, how low should I get my first cut? keep in mind im tryna move towards waves
2. What method is the best to start with h20 or wolfing-- these are the only 2 I've heard and but I am not sure what to call the various methods that are in that mega thread. I understand what wolfing is thou. I have also read about melting the promede with hot water and a towel, which method works best for most of you guys?
3. Also what kind of cut (dark ceaser, taper) should I get for my first cut?
4. Lastly, I seem to be more fond of waves that are more spaced out(not widely spaced though) then compressed, how do I achieve this or does it have to do with hair texture?
This seems like a excellent forum I just stumbled upon and seen some of the pics just looking for soem help...Also what is this 360 forum that yall are referring to?

as for a cut get a 1.5 WTG wash hair get you a softy an some moisterizer Carrot cream or Olive cream at Walgreenes or the beauty supply store ran by the Koreans and start brushin alot as often as you can ..
Start Shower Brushin now but brush correctly theres a thread on brushing
All products dont work the same for everyones hair you may have to experience with diff products until you find what works for you..
Carrot cream and Olive cream works for most Spinners in this forum..
basically you need something to sften the hair and brush to train
Research the Methods and Product threads and the Brushing directions get what you need to start.. and get to work... you will develop your own method over time ...but it gonna take patience and alot of brushing.. wolf for about 8 weeks or until your waves become unmanagable but in the mean time get you a line up erry two weeks and then that first cut should be a #2 WTG ( Even stephen )
stay active let us know wats up.. post pics to show your progress in a few weeks.. Patience and alot of brushing is the key

ok.. i know im kind of late and idk if you cut your hair yet.. but i was in the same boat as you..
what you can do to not have lines in your head when they cut it is take your braids out, wash your hair, and have somebody blow dry it well for you..
then im not too sure about the hair cut but get a dark cesar.. and then you should buy a mosterizer and use the H20 method most def. with a soft brush..
when your hair gets longer you probably know to use a hard brush.. but trust me stick with the H20 method.. try to avoid grease...
as for the type of waves you want with spacing out and such.. it depends on your hair texture.. if you have nappy hair they would be closer together and if it isnt as nappy then they would be more spaced out..
i hope i answered most if not all of your questions..

Man thank you to both of you, I really preciate it. I cut it about a week ago but I had it out of braids for a few days and I didn't have any lines.
and O-Negative, when you say avoid grease are you talking about promade? I have been usingthe h2o method along with OC and it appears to be working(pics coming later), did you do the h20 method everyday?
But I was wondering if the waves start coming later after a first hair cut. Because I am starting to get alot of miniwaves (I think yall call them crimps) but Im scared that in a few weeks when I get a cut I will have to start all over again, or will they come in before that?
or dothdamnthang are you saying I should start out wolfing? I was reading in one of these methods things and they said to wolf after your 3rd or 4th cut(every 2 weeks)?
also on the h20 method, do yall wet your hair in brush in the shower in the morning or do you constantly wet your hair with a spray bottle throughout the day?
once again thanks for all the help and opinons.

and the H20 method that you are using is the right way..
and you should wolf yes.. which means grow your hair now for about 2 or 3 months if you can last that long so when you cut it the waves are still there.. dont cut your hair until you cant control your hair 2 much anymore when it gets long.. just get shape ups..
and the H20 method is both.. when you shower you can brush and when ur just lazing around you can do the spray bottle thing constantly..
and about the medium brush.. im with you on that.. i never seen 1 b4 in my life.. i just use 1 of my hardbrush in the shower to the point that it seems medium to me and i have a separate hard brush

preciate all the help O-Negative... when you wolf do you get it trimmed?
If you trim your hair(2 wtg) during your wolfing process isn't it the same as starting the wolfing process all over again? because the compression thread talkins about trimming during wolfing.. but i'll prolly be getting shapeup like you said..

umm i never got a trim because my hair doesnt exactly curl enough when its not long enough..
but dothdamnthang told me i could get a trim with a #3 guard and a fresh line up if i still need time to get the wave pattern..
so if you need more time and your hair is getting too long to manage.. then get that trim and keep working on it.. then when you think its set.. then you can get that cut..
its up to you i guess.. im not too sure about all this compression stuff and all that high tech shabangbang..
i just H20 method, use pink oil, no pomade, wolf and OD with the brush and it works for me..
hopefully somebody else can come and answer you on this 1..
