Hi Susie.

How long is your own hair? I`m thinking you could take pics of Arwen to a stylist for a consultation and work with them to get what you want. I think the girls on the Long Hair Support board had some great styling tips for long hair, how to get those renaissance waves (braids!). In the movie, the elves have their hair tucked back behind the ears so the pointy ears show better, hair parted in the middle. But I`m pretty sure the actors/actresses were wearing really good wigs for that look. Maybe your stylist can tuck some flowers into skinny braids (Legolas` hair comes to mind).

I`m sure you will look radiant on your wedding day! Many blessings to you and yours!

Thank you Sunshine :o)
My hair falls just over my butt... and unfortunately, my stylist (as with all the others I`ve been to) is not used to long hair so she has no ideas.... But thank you for your input.
Do you know any sites with pictures of such hairdos?

Since braids were mentioned, here two sites with pictures of braids worn at renaissance fairs:

Some of them are just absolutely beautiful. Hope you get some great ideas from them. Best wishes on your upcoming marriage. I`m certain you will look gorgeous on your special day. ;)

WOW, BUDOKAN, THANK YOU... REALLY NICE, SOME GOOD IDEAS.
Not quite what I`m looking for just yet. This is it, braids, little ones, flowers throughout, loose flowing hair..... can this be done?

You`re welcome. I`m sure what you want can be done. I suggest you choose a picture that is the closest to what you want, take it to your stylist, and discuss the changes you want to make. If you can`t find a picture, try drawing a picture. I have found that a picture (drawing) really is worth a 1000 words when it comes to communicating with your stylist.

Also, since you mentioned how Liv Tyler looked in the movie, I found a web site with LOTS of photos of her as Arwen. The site is concerned with her costumes but perhaps you can find a picture to help explain the style you are seeking.

Let us know what style you choose and how it turned out. Best of luck to you!! :)

BTW: Karen`s site is:

Hey Susie! Looks like you got some pretty amazing feedback and excellent links! I`m not so computer saavy as all of that! Again, I`m thinking the ladies on the Long Hair Support board, since some of them have hair of abundant length like yours, could tell you just how to get that wavy Renaissance look. That Renaissance Braids link was AWESOME! I think the drawing suggestion was a great one too. Take all the pics of Arwen and the kinds of braids you like and a drawing incorporating all the ideas you like to a stylist and see what comes up! You also might want to try to look for a stylist or salon that specializes in long hair. I`ve seen advertisements for specialty salons, but I live in a big city. They would know best how to give waves to your long hair.

BEST OF LUCK AND WISHES FOR HAPPINESS EVERMORE!

Sunshine...

i agree with everything you said, but I have 2 problems.... I am not creative so I am not able to take the ideas and draw something cool out of it... I can leave that up to my mother..
AND,... long hair specialist = $$$$$$$ I live in a big city too and stylists alone, nevermind specialists cost enough. My stylist I have now is more than willing to try a few things before the wedding and she is not expensive.....

Thanks again for your input :)
