Hi. I’m thinking of buying some Silky Straight Bohyme hair. I’ve heard relatively good things about it. My questions are:

1. Does it not come in 20 inch length? It seems to jump from 18 inches to 22 inches. Has anyone ever seen Silky Straight in 20 inch length?

2. Secondly, on texture how soft does it feel to the touch? I realize its probably slightly more course then Russian (which is nearly baby fine) but its at least fairly smooth correct? I just don’t want anything rough or course.

3. With proper care, how much use were you able to get with it? I plan on sewing in wefts. I’m hearing that with proper care it can last up to 6 months in most cases. Has that been your experience?

4. I see there is a specific line of Bohyme hair care products. Is it really important that you use their line or will any high quality product that you would normally use on extension hair suffice?

Thanks.

1. Bohymes 18 inch length is really 20 inches

2. Im not familiar with russian, but from my understanding Bohyme may be a little thicker strand and 'weightier'. Bohyme SS is fairly soft and very sleek & smooth

3. I wear Bohyme for 5-6 months, after which time I dont use it again for another long term install, but its still in good enough shape for clips ins or a fake ponytail.  Some people who take better care of hair than I do may get longer use out of Bohyme SS.

4. Bohyme's  haircare product line isnt necessary and not worth the $$ IMO

Thanks Sherrie. I know both yours and Frenchie's installs look fabulous and you both seem to like Bohyme so thats why Ive decided to give it a shot.

Yes someone else emailed and explained that Bohyme is generally very generous on their lengths so 18 will be closer to 19-20.

Yes Russian is kind of light and floaty. I cant really think of another way to describe it and just by looking at photos of the silky staight, it appears a little more dense. It reminds me of those Pantene commercials.

Im hearing Bohyme can last up to 12 months but that tends to be the darker browns and if you really are very gentle. Most people do some styling and so forth. But its reasonably priced (compared to Russian) so you can easily afford to swap it out when it begins to deteriorate a little from wear and washing.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing of the Bohyme hair care line. Its WAY too expensive. Like that reconstructor spray is $30??? What? Is it made from gold? Thats excessive and I think the idea there is they want to make you think that you need special Bohyme products to properly care for it and extend its wear but Im sure any product that is recomended for extensions in general will also be fine.

Thanks for your help! I already ordered it so it should arrive next few days.

Hey Krimsa-
So my take on Bohyme is this: it is great hair, and with proper care, you can wear it for a long time.
It is essential to condition the hair after shampoo and after a few months, I wouldn't want to wear this hair without ironing it.
I got my routine down, so it's easy for me. But this hair, like any other extension hair really, needs some basic attention to stay pretty.
After a few installs, usually 3, the hair is still wearable but it's a matter of wanting to spend more time ironing it after blowdrying it, or not. Sometimes I'll wear the hair more, sometimes I want some new hair that requires less styling.
Bohyme conditioners work wonders for me, the green line is great -for smooth hair- and the one for damaged hair too.
Get a few silicone serums too, like the John Frieda's one, the kms one, the one from Chi, and maroccan oil is great too to fight frizz.
Hope you'll be satified w/your bohyme!

I've always had terrific experiences with Bohyme. My clients who have always worn it won't trust anything else now.

The silky straight is thick, full bodies, sleek and smells gorgeous (that's just a strange fetish...!).

I never use specific products and have never had a problem to date. The only thing I find is that due to it's shine, it's better suited to naturally shinier hair. Coarser hair can make it scream a little...
