QuoteReplyTopic: Need help finding a great conditioner Posted: March 14 2007 at 10:13pm
I need help in selecting a good mask/conditioner. I have very long, highlighted, porous, curly/wavy hair. Due to flat ironing and chemicals, my hair is dry. I have read and researched most of the conditioning masks that people have recommended but still don't know which to choose. Any help would be appreciated. These are the ones that seem to top many lists: Nexxus Emergence Strenghth Reconst....Keratase Masquintense....Loreal Smooth Intese Ånti-Frizz or Frederick Fekkai Protein RX Repair.
Has anyone tried these and which ones would work best for my hair. My biggest concern are the frizzies especially since Summer is on it's way!
I've found that conditioning an extra lot in the shower helps alot. After washing my hair, I glob on the conditioner and clip my hair up to let it soak in during the rest of my shower, then rinse with luke-warm water.
Also, simple deep conditioning treatments such as olive oil work wonderfully. I slather on a lot of oil all through my hair (I usually use about 1/4 cup) and put it in a braid or bun and leave it several hours before washing it out. To keep from looking so bad, I tie a bandana over my hair and nobody ever knows. Or you can wrap plastic wrap/plastic bag/plastic shower cap and a hot towel around your hair for about 30 minutes, then wash.
And please stop flat-ironing! Waves and curls have so much potential for being beautiful and unique! Be who you are!
I happen to come across a conditioner that works great for my curly, dry, hair. I get my hair colored and highlighted. Plus I use a flat iron (when I have the time) and hot rollers.
Believe me I have tried many, many conditioners from Lanza, Redkin, Sebastian, Tigi, etc. and this conditioner really made my hair silky and smooth.
I used it at my sister's house who has thin hair. The conditioner is made for thinning hair. I have thick hair. It made my hair luxurious no matter what it's made for it works!
Try it. I've only been able to find on Amazon.com.

i hail from the hair color bord
nexxus emergence is not a condtioner!!! it is a protein treatment you have to follow up witha deep condtioning treatment if used like a condtioner it will dry you hair out and break!!!!
neutragena triple moisture hair mask (in a jar) is great its about 6 bucks and it is a really good deep conditioner if your hair dosn't like cones go for nexxus HUMANCTRESS you can find it a supermarkets and walmarts now it use to only be in salons it still the same product
redken smooth down line would work for fighting frizz too
Hi: Be aware that often "masks" have a large amount of protein(high up on the ingredients list)and protein, ironically, can be very drying. You must use it prudently if that is the case. It's actually much better to use a daily leave in conditioner that truly moistures and doesn't just coat the hair. I have a wonderful product in my line called Leave-In Hair Treatment that curly-haired people go nuts over.

I've also had good luck wih Neutrogena triple moisture conditioner. It comes in a jar or a tube and Target stores usually have the best price.I've also read that it's actually not good to wash curly hair too much. Just messaging the hair and scalp with a small amount of conditioner, rinsing it out, then conditioning as usual works better on curly hair than shampooing and conditioning.
I just tried the Bio-Protein Curly Hair Conditioner from Batia & Aleeza brand and it totally adds moisture and body to my hair. Since my hair is very very frizzy I use it as a deep cleansing conditioner and I leave some of the conditioner on my hair.
It also protects my hair from heat. My hair looks shiny and healthy now.
It's the greatest conditioner ever for curly girls!!
You use their "No-Poo" (shampoo) about twice a week but you use DevaCurl One Condition every single day!!!! I cannot stress how important that is!!!! Curly hair frizzes because it seeks hydration!! It needs to be moist and wet and damped in water every single hair and conditioned, but with conditioner that has no protein and fully water based!!
hi there, thought i would share my experience with my curly hair and conditioners!! i have like you tried just about everything from frizz ease to olive oil spending £30 on shampoos, conditioners because i was told they would work miracles..but guess what they didn't.. then i found Moroccan oil..its fantastic! the shampoo is rich + creamy and the conditioner is fab, they also do a really good hair mask which is great for coloured treated hair, mine is different shades of blonde and very damaged and its really made a big difference-and as far as styling goes the moroccan oil is brillant for defining curls and keeping hair healthy..its not too pricey+goes along way- good luck + hope this helps

You might want to google our product. It's called Magic Mojo. It's a weightless wearable treatment that works well with all hair types. If you google our blog you can see some amazing before & after pic's.
Curly hair can be difficult to manage because it is often
naturally dry or becomes frizzy in humid weather. The best way to manage
curly hair is to choose a good conditioner that is formulated for curly
hair, and knowing what to look for is an excellent place to start.Curly hair is often naturally dry because the natural oils that are
produced in the scalp have a harder time traveling down the hair shafts
than they do with straighter hair. This is why it is so important to use
a conditioner that is creamy and has plenty of hydrating properties.
Conditioners with essential oils and botanicals, such as avocado and jojoba oil are a way to use natural ingredients to help keep hair hydrated.
DevaCurl will be fine for u.

Rene Furterer and Phyto have some amazing conditioners for naturally textured hair such as naturally curly. The Karite deep conditioners are excellent.

I have naturally curly hair as well. I did have some dryness but what helped me the most was, reducing the amount of heat styling I did, deep conditioning treatments, oil treatments, and keeping my hair moisturized all the time.
I have used a lot of products too; I like to try them all out to see what works best for me. My favourites are:
The Nexxus Humectress Deep Conditioner: this conditioner makes my hair feel different as soon as I put it on. It makes my curls feel bouncy, soft and rejuvenated! I leave it on for as long as I can sometimes ten mins sometimes 3 hours depending on how much conditioning your hair needs. I do this at least one per week. This conditioner has great things in it such as honey extracts, avocado oil, coconut oil, keratin and soybean.
I also like the Mixed Chicks Deep Conditioner: this one is very creamy and makes your hair feel soft.
I also like the Macadamia Deep Repair hair Masque it is quite expensive but it says to use it no more than twice per week, I use it once per week. It contains things like macadamia oil, argon oil, tea tree, chamomile, aloe and algae.
I also like the Shea Moistures Deep conditioning masque. This product gives you a lot of moisture and makes your hair very soft, it is also organic and has tons of great ingredients that nourish your hair. The shea moistures shampoo is also really great.
You can also try a shampoo that is sulphate, paraben and wax free. Sulphates strip your hair of oils and leave it brittle and dry. My favourite is the L’oreal Evercreme Intense Nourishing shampoo, it has no harsh chemicals and also contains omega oils.
I also use Moroccan oil and coconut oil, they help with dryness.

We have a great hair treatment for you. Our Acacia Protein Masque is a nutrient rich, intensive hair masque that helps to repair and replenish dill, dry hair leaving it silky, shiny, and strong! It's truly amazing!
Directions
After shampooing and towel drying the hair, take a small amount of Macadamia Deep Repair Masque in the palm of your hand. Rub your palms together and apply evenly to damp hair. Comb through for even distribution. For an ultra conditioning and reparative treatment, add a small amount of Macadamia Healing Oil Treatment to the the Deep Repair Masque application. Leave in for 5 to 10 minutes to penetrate the cuticles of the hair. No heat is required for processing. Rinse thoroughly with warm water. Style as desired. The Deep Repair Masque is an intense, revitalizing hair treatment and should not be used more than twice a week for best results.
