tint wont lift tint if the colour is too dark there is no point going over with a lighter colour the only way to get it lighter would be to either bleach bath or to use a colour remover such as colour oops or goldwell.If u are patient then could use a deep cleasing shampoo to help fade the colour out.

I've had the same problem, a lot of dyes come out way too dark on me due to porous hair. I once used a light brown that came out black!

Don't worry, it will fade a bit. However, you can use a color stripper to get most of the color out, if you don't want to wait. Drug stores sell something called Color Oops and Sally's has a few products to choose from.

It'll leave you with kind of an orangy mess of hair, so you have to dye over it. I would suggest using a level 5 with an ash or a neutral base with no warm in it to neutralize the orange.

If by some chance you are lucky enough not to get any orange after stripping it, then I'd just try your usual 5NW , but maybe in a demi to avoid damage. You're hair might be kind of fried and frizzy for a while because the color stripper is strong stuff.
