skintone help...wanting to go blonde

Hey everybody, I have medium to dark ashy ash brown (I think?) and I've had this insatiable itch to go blonde. The thing is I have NO idea which blonde would be good for me. I was thinking maybe dark blonde like Lauren Bacall or practically white blonde like Jayne Mansfield, or maybe medium blonde is best for me; who knows. Then I have to think about if cool tones or warm tones would be better for me. The thing is I've been told I have olive based skin and then cool toned skin, so that added more to the confusion.
