I do not recommend it. The first step, dying the hair was damaginf enough in itself and the conditioner sucked. The highlights are really harsh and now a few weeks after the ends of mt highlights look all damaged. Time to do a FULL dye.

I am a professional Hairstylist/Haircolorist with 19 years experience. I have traveled all over the country for my advanced education. I am also a salon owner.:)........and I LOVE Redken!!!
I almost forgot---I honestly wouldn't suggest using this product because my hair felt much drier after rinsing the base color. I have used ALOT of other haircolors in my life (both at-home and at the salon) and none have ever left my hair this dry. Because I'm trying to grow my hair out, I gave my hair and scalp an oil treatment the day before I colored, used a conditioner after rinsing the base color out (this may be why the highlighting didn't come out as "vibrant" as I was expecting) and used the "after color" conditioner after rinsing the highlighting stuff out.
This board has helped me to avoid some mistakes I would have made if you guys hadn't shared your knowledge sooooo-THANKS YOU GUYS!
AARRRGH! I was going to return my haircolor today and my husband threw the receipt away! The funny thing is, this man NEVER throws things away!!!!!! I was going to return it and buy $21.00 worth of Burt's Bees products (I just dicovered them and LOOOOVE them!) Anyway, I just wanted to complain, I 'll end up buying the Burt's Bees products anyway.
NEWSFLASH
I ended up using the L'oreal Couleur Expert-it was inevitable (and I couldn't return it anyway!) I was very careful and it turned out okay. I used 6.4 ginger twist and I was extremely careful with the highlights. I used the brush supplied but I bent the wire (where it connected to the plastic handle) so I was only applying about 1/8" of highlights. It didn't lighten as much as if I used a "Highlight and Frost" kit so I was happy.

We in the color correcting business are starting to see some Color Experte' results. And their not good!
Be aware that the models you see on the adds ARE PROFFESSIONALLY HIGHLIGHTED.
OK, I have been coloring hair for 19 years and I only have one thing to say....."IF IT WERE THAT EASY, DON'T YOU THINK ALL OF THE STYLIST'S EVERYWHERE WOULD HAVE BEEN DOING THIS TECHNIQUE FOR YEARS NOW???"
Here is Wittles' Post about Color Expert..............From Bloopers
I used Color Expert by L'Oreal... I think that is what it's called. First you apply the base color, I chose Briscoti, and then you select strands to highlight, there is no cap involved and the color doesn't spread. Well... I wish I hadn't, my hair was doing just fine and all that. But I did... and the highlighting came out too much on top. You really need a friend to help with the highlighting. I took sooo long selecting strands and carefully applying the solution, alternating sides and all of that... but the first part I did stayed on way too long by the time I finished with the last strands. So I ran into the store and bought another box at $22.00 and evened it out. And I planned on taking the base color, with a cap this time, pull out a few strands and re-dye the top that was too heavy with the highlights. But I decided to call the L'Oreal consultant first and without even seeing me (of course) and going by just what I told her, she recommended that I deposit the red back into my strands but to do this I would need to re-dye all of my hair with Excellence 8g. I just wasn't sure about that. I did not want a flat color on my head. So I went ahead because I felt it was safe to do so. My highlights were not pale like the inside of a banana. They still had some gold in them, pretty, just too heavy on the top. I put the cap on and pulled out a few strands, dyed the strands with the base color, and waited. The results came out great. It did not get as dark as the original base color, but it added a multi-toned affect. Now it has been about 3 weeks, and as always my hair color fades a lot. But it looks natural and I even have gotten compliments. My hair is no longer long... I cut it to my collar bone and all the natural wave is taking over. (So much for my previous posts...) Also I have been using L'Oreal's Nature's Therapy products. They are great!!! And an added bonus... I was sent a free box of Color Expert in my shade that immediately went into the garbage. I will never use that again. Bottom line... the best thing to do is to go to a specialist. But my very first blooper was done at a salon, which sent me down a different path of hair care. I have done a lot of study and always learning from experience (mine and others). This last experience was the closest I have ever come to a blooper. Just find someone you can trust.
If you are interested in my ordeal with this product, go to Bloopers... Hairlighting Disaster... and read my post in response to that thread. But to sum it up I will never go that route again. And Sophie's response to my note really makes sense, common sense to be exact.
Yes I have used it. The color part of it was wonderful the highlighting was a different story. First of all it said wait 15 minutes, well my highlights developed within 5 minutes. Thank God, I kept a close eye on it. They were very "vibrant", much more than I expected. In fact 3 weeks later I have my salon color over the whole thing. I doubt if I would ever do it again. Seems to me the highlighting is rather strong for a home kit. The brush to apply the highlights is rather hard to manage and control where the highlights are going. As I said I would not buy it again.

The highlights that are shown in these commercials have been artistically placed on the hair by a well trained professional hair stylist. I could see how youwould very easily mess up with this product.
We go through alot of training on highlight placement. One color will play upon another color and bring out another.
If you try this, I would only use the highlights on the front and top of the hair.

I have looked all over the web for some sort of feedback about this product! I did see one person that used it and her hair looks pretty good. She used one of the red shades over blonde highlighted hair and I really think it looks great. She did say that she had a hard time with the highlighter brush which looks like a mascara wand. She said that it put the highlights in a little "chunkier" than she would have liked.

Has anyone use L'Oreals new Couleur Experte? It is coloring and highlighting all in one kit. The highlighting kit is supposed to complement the color in the box. I am thinking of trying it and would like some opinions on it.
